Andy's Chasing Cars drive him out of the contest.
Dannii Minogue experiences her first casualty of the contest tonight. Andy Williams crashes out of the X Factor singing Chasing Cars. Dannii's song choice failed to bring out the best in the Newport lad, who faced off against Beverley Trotman in tonight's final showdown.
What a difference a week makes for Beverley! Last week she was the standout of the show, this week she faced the judges' vote. We felt she gave a great main show rendition of James Blunt's 'You're Beautiful', but unluckily for her, the highly influential Simon Cowell felt it was a "peanut performance"! Beverley's reprise performance proved Simon wrong.
When Andy followed he delivered a much stronger effort than earlier on the main show. But as he faced the judges' vote his tears told us which way he expected their vote to go.
Louis and Sharon voted for Andy to leave, but his mentor Dannii remained loyal, declaring "I love him and I want him to stay in the competition."
Simon declared he was basing his deciding vote "on who I think the public would like to see", and then sent Andy home. Leaving in 8th position overall, Andy at least has the consolation that he has already earned his place on season 4's X Factor Live tour.
On a brighter note, during the first part of tonight's results show X Factor 2 winner Shayne Ward performed his soon to be released single Breathless . He's still hitting those glorious high notes and he's hitting the shops on 19th November (18th Nov for downloads). Shayne's new album, also called Breathless will be issued a week later on 26th November. |
