Leona Lewis wins The X Factor 2006!

It's Leona Lewis, winner of The X Factor 2006!

Leona Lewis puts every colour of that rainbow into an amazing vocal performance on X Factor semifinal night.
Upon being crowned as the first ever female winner of the contest Leona was stunned and speechless, but she did find enough words to thank everyone and to confirm that she's living her dream.
She followed up with a great reprise of her winner's single A Moment Like This  Check out 'A Moment Like This' at Amazon.co.uk, ending in joyful tears. In a lovely touch Ray Quinn, the gracious loser gave her a great big hug.
The words of the song said it all for Leona "I can't believe it's happening to me. Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this!"
Before the voting lines closed tonight both Ray and Leona sang "A Moment Like This" back to back. Although Ray did a good job with a song that isn't a great match for his preferred vocal style, Leona's version took the song to another level.
Earlier on tonight's live show Leona and Ray sang 3 songs each: A reprise of one of their previous final numbers, a singalong with one of tonight's guest acts plus one other solo number.
The original plan was that they would each sing a Christmas song (White Christmas  Check out 'White Christmas' at Amazon.co.uk for Ray and O Holy Night  Check out 'O Holy Night' at Amazon.co.uk for Leona), but after a last minute change Ray sang That's Life  Check out 'That's Life' at Amazon.co.uk alongside Westlife  Check out 'Westlife' at Amazon.co.uk and Leona sang A Million Love Songs  Check out 'A Million Love Songs' at Amazon.co.uk with Take That  Check out 'Take That' at Amazon.co.uk.
Other viewer treats were a performance of That's What Friends Are For  Check out 'That's What Friends Are For' at Amazon.co.uk from all 12 final acts and a rendition of  Earth Song  Check out 'Earth Song' at Amazon.co.uk from the best of the worst! (Or do we mean 'The worst of the worst'? Surely you remember Mad-Donna, George, Warren, Onkar, Tim, Twice As Nice and Identical?) And for Simon Cowell there was the added bonus of a hug and a kiss from the legendary Edna!
86-year-old Edna is happy and hopeful as Lorraine, her daughter in law, begins the Beguine.
Myleene Klass, fresh from the jungle, presented the live link from the Leona's home base of Hackney, East London and Jeff Brazier did the link from Ray's Liverpool home.
