Song 2

Shayne Ward gets a big thumbs-up from The X Factor panel after singing "Take Your Mama Out" on the Final 5 show.
This Scissor Sisters number is an inspired choice for Shayne. It's a quirky, bouncy number and Shayne has a lot of fun with it on The X Factor stage.
Shayne Ward whips up the studio audience with his version of The Scissor Sisters' "Take Your Mama Out".

Shayne is on top of his game, great to watch and great to listen to.

He nails the high pitched hook perfectly as he dances confidently about the stage.

It's a faultless performance which goes down well with his many fans in the audience as well as those on the panel!

Panel-Bites:

Louis Walsh:  (Introduction) Kate, my only act in the competition is a young guy from Manchester whose name is Shayne.

Intro clip...

Shayne:  Since I've left school I've been in a lot of jobs. I've worked in factories, shops, building sites... I didn't go college, which I wanted to do, because I wanted to support me mum with rent and stuff like that and if I'm honest I seriously thought that's how my life would be.

Louis Walsh:  I've been working as a manager for 20 years and people like Shayne, they just don't come around very often. I don't think he realises how good he actually is.

Shayne:  I don't want this to end now. I never thought I was good enough to do something like this and it has made me realise that maybe I can do something better with my life.

Shayne sings...

Kate Thornton:  Simon, your comments, please?

Simon Cowell:  Ahm... you've had two very good weeks Shayne. I mean, that was an unusual song, it was a good song actually Louis. I mean in some respects... and by the way I think your styling is on the money tonight. In a str... In some respects I think it was your strongest performance because I think you're begining to show the kind of artist you're gonna be when this... when, when this show finishes. It was just terrific.

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Simon. Sharon?

Sharon Osbourne:  Well that was very long-winded Si-mo!(sic) Very long winded.

Simon Cowell:  I think I made the point Osbourne.

Sharon Osbourne:  Did we? Oooh! (To Shayne) I... well I just like the groin action, love. Fabulous. (Laughter) Keep pumping away. (Simon places his hand in front of Sharon's mouth)

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Sharon. Louis, what did you make of that? You're mentoring Shayne.

Louis Walsh:  I love working with Shayne...

Sharon Osbourne:  I'm sure you do!

Louis Walsh:  I think he shows (trying not to laugh) he is very versatile! I think he's got star quality

Sharon Osbourne:  (Facing Louis) Wouldn't we all love to work with Shayne?

Louis Walsh:  ...and... but do you know what?

Sharon Osbourne:  What?

Louis Walsh:  ...he is different than anybody else.

Sharon Osbourne:  Why?

Louis Walsh:  He is special.

Kate Thornton:  Okay...

Sharon Osbourne:  In what way?.

Kate Thornton:  ...thank you judges.

Louis Walsh:  (To Sharon. Making an 'X' with his fingers) He's got the 'X' factor.

Kate Thornton:  ...So, Simon loved the song and Sharon loved the groin action. But did you love him enough to give him your vote... (Kate gives out the voting numbers etc) ...Shayne, we're gonna see you again later. But for now, ladies and gents, it's Shayne! (Shayne kisses Kate and waves to the audience as he exits the stage.)

Song 2: Careless Whisper  Check out 'Careless Whisper' at Amazon.co.uk (George Michael  Check out 'George Michael' at Amazon.co.uk)
Song 1

Shayne Ward hits the high registers to register a high class rendition of George Michael's "Careless Whisper".
Before Shayne sings tonight Louis Walsh describes him as the main reason he returned to the show.
Tonight though, his young protégé has chosen an extremely difficult song to sing. George Michael's Careless Whisper, like Daniel Bedingfield's "If You're Not The One" is a real vocal challenge.
However, they say things are only difficult if you can't do them. Shayne can and Shayne does. This isn't just a careless whisper; he injects real passion into the lyric. He also handles the shifts in register with ease and delivers yet another awesome performance.

Panel-Bites:

Louis Walsh:  Okay, I only have one act left in this competition but he's very, very special. And he's the main reason I came back. His name is Shayne Ward from Manchester!

Shayne sings...

Kate Thornton:  Sharon, your comments, please? (Shayne pats his chest)

Sharon Osbourne:  What's the matter? Shayne, why are we patting our chest, Shayne? It's mummy! Why are we patting our chest?

Shayne:  Pardon?

Sharon Osbourne:  I said, "why were you patting your chest?"

Shayne:  (Pats his chest again) Because I'm thinking of you!

Sharon Osbourne:  Oh darling! Darling! I love you! Anyway Shayne, I love that song. Really I do. One of my favourite songs and you sang it really well. And I love you too very much! ...And I'll show you how much later! (Applause)

Shayne:  Oooh!

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Sharon... I think. (Laughs)

Sharon Osbourne:  (To Simon, who's pulling a disdainful face.) It's all right... Oh, behave.

Kate Thornton:  Simon, what would you like to add?

Simon Cowell:  Not a lot. Ahm... It is one of the best pop records of all time. I mean it's incredibly associated with George Michael. Ah... you know... I'm going to be honest with you Shayne, I mean it was difficult for you following Brenda because it was such an outstanding vocal performance that. Having said that, you performed it brilliantly and I think and I hope that you've done enough to get through to next week.

Shayne:  (Beckoning the audience, arms raised) Do you think I've done enough? (Audience cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Okay, thank you Simon. Louis, you're mentoring Shayne, what did you make of that performance?

Louis Walsh:  Shayne, I think you gave a great performance. It's a very, very hard song to sing, but you know, you made it your own and you're different than anybody else in the competition... (excitedly) but we need votes! We need everybody to vote for him! (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Okay, thank you judges. Shayne you've heard what the judges have got to say. What would you like to say back to them?

Shayne:  Erm, thank you for your comments, again, I'm just so glad to be here and I just hope I'm here next week again, just to show you that I'm worthy to be here. And Simon thank you for your comment. I mean I'm... It'll only make me better, d'you know what I mean? (Simon nods) ...(To the viewers) Please vote for me, please.

Kate Thornton:  Now, Shayne next weekend it gets really serious, it's The X Factor semi-final. You're down to the final 5 from 75,000, so why should people keep with you and keep their votes coming?

Shayne:  I want people to vote for me because I am not safe unless you put me there. So pick up your phone, dial that number and please vote for me? Please? (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  And he asked so nicely. (Kate gives out the voting numbers etc) ...but for now, ladies and gentlemen, it's Shayne! (Shayne kisses Kate on the cheek and exits the stage waving.)
