Song 2

Brenda Edwards delivers a powerful but controlled performance of Anastacia's "I'm Outta Love" on The X Factor Final 5 show.
Power dressed and hoping for a powerful performance, Brenda takes the stage slickly tailored in a sleeveless trouser suit. Her first song choice for this evening was a hit for another powerhouse vocalist, Anastacia.
Brenda really looks like she's having great fun jumping around the stage. She belts out the rocky parts of the song like she really means it, but what's really great tonight is the way her vocal effortlessly adapts to the slower tempo segments which she sings with conviction and tenderness.
As Louis comments, this performance underlines Brenda's versatility as an artist. She seems to take every song she's given and turn it into something magical.

Panel-Bites:

Sharon Osbourne:  (Introduction) Ooooh, 'again'! I love this. The ever-evolving fabulous Brenda.

Intro clip...

Brenda:  From growing up there was always bit of me that was taking a back seat and that is all to do with my confidence. Ninety per cent of me wanted it. Since being in the X factor show I found that missing 10 per cent, now I feel complete.

Sharon Osbourne:  When Brenda first auditioned she was using her personality to hide her insecurities... it takes one to know one, believe me.

Brenda:  I feel that something has finally come together and clicked into place.

Sharon Osbourne:  She's overcome all of that and realised that she is a star.

Brenda:  It could be the right time for me to start making that journey and actually living my dream and becoming a pop star.

Brenda sings...

Kate Thornton:  Louis your comments please?

Louis Walsh:  Brenda, great song! It shows you are such a versatile singer... and what I love most about you is that you're a fighter and you're fighting for your chance here and I love it. (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Louis. Simon?

Simon Cowell:  Yeah, I've got to tell you Brenda. I think you are gettng better. We haven't seen a singer like you for a long, long time here and let me tell you the very first person who's gonna buy your album is Louis Walsh. (Brenda laughs)

Louis Walsh:  (Holds his hands up) Yes.

Kate Thornton:  Okay Sharon, you are Brenda's mentor, what did you make of that?.

Sharon Osbourne:  As always, you know, I put my money on Brenda and she delivers. Brilliant...

Simon Cowell:  Very good.

Sharon Osbourne:  ...Love you missus.

Simon Cowell:  Very good. (Cheers)

Brenda:  Great comments from the judges but what did you think? Are you going to vote for Brenda? If you are... (Kate gives out the voting numbers etc.) ...Brenda will be singing again later. (To Brenda who is laughing loudly) You crack me up! It's Brenda everyone! Filthy laugh!

Song 2: I'll Never Love This Way Again  Check out 'I'll Never Love This Way Again' at Amazon.co.uk (Dionne Warwick  Check out 'Dionne Warwick' at Amazon.co.uk)
Song 1

Simon speak: Brenda hits the big money note right on the money!
In her elegant purple evening gown Brenda is certainly dressed in style for her second number tonight. Her vocal on this Dionne Warwick classic ballad is equally elegant.
Brenda delivers a beautifully measured performance, taking care not to oversing it, so that when she belts out the big 'money note' the impact is dramatic.
Again, she seems totally comfortable on stage and she makes a difficult vocal piece look very easy indeed.

Panel-Bites:

Sharon Osbourne:  (Introduction) I'd just like to say one thing too, before I start to waffle on... Louis I do care about my acts. I read what you said and I care terribly about my acts.

Louis Walsh:  But we all care... that's why we're here!

Sharon Osbourne:  But you said I didn't and you said that Simon didn't and that was highlighted in a paper.

Simon Cowell:  (Leans over, with thumb on nose and wiggling his fingers) Naa naaa na naa naa.

Louis Walsh:  (Shakes his head and sings) Naa naaa na naa naa!

Kate Thornton:  Okay, so Sharon, who is up next from your three finalists?

Sharon Osbourne:  Oh my three - I forgot it was three. I thought it was four.

Louis Walsh:  No.

Sharon Osbourne:  Ehm, 'Brenda'.

Brenda sings...

Kate Thornton:  Louis, your comment please?

Louis Walsh:  Brenda! I do have a confession to make. I am a big fan of yours. Simon is right. And I loved that song, absolutely love it. I love when you got the high note at the end. Fantastic performance, brilliant song. I am a fan... okay. (Cheers)

Brenda:  Thanks.

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Louis. Simon?

Simon Cowell:  Ahm, I think it was probably your best vocal performance to date. (Cheers)

Brenda:  (Looking pleasantly surprised) Thank you Simon.

Simon Cowell:  I just absolutely loved it. I mean it was literally like a vocal lesson that. I mean it was just great... Great. (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Simon. Sharon you're mentoring Brenda. Every week her comments get better. What would you care to add to that?

Sharon Osbourne:  You just go girl! (Cheers) And you look stunning!

Brenda:  (Smiling) Thank you.

Kate Thornton:  Thank you judges. Brenda, week on week Simon says that was your best vocal yet... your best vocal yet. Tonight he's said it again. What would you like to say back to the panel?

Brenda:  You know, I'm having so much fun up here. I just want to thank all the judges for the comments 'cause it's... without.. without your comments I wouldn't be here trying to strive and do more each week so I really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Kate Thornton:  Now you've got a fan in Louis Walsh who said he'd buy your records... (Brenda laughs) ...but why should people pick up and vote you into the semi-finals next week Brenda?

Brenda:  I... I am the only woman left standing here tonight... (Cheers) ...and I want to be the only woman left standing in two weeks time so pick up the phone... vote for Brenda! (Brenda laughs raunchily)

Kate Thornton:  (To the viewers) You heard her! She was quite stern. (Kate gives out the voting numbers etc) ...Ladies and gentlemen it's the dirtiest laugh we've heard in a long time... (Kate points the mike at Brenda who's still laughing) ...It's Brenda! (Brenda hugs Kate, then heads off stage, waving to the audience)
