Andy Abraham sings Whitney's "I Have Nothing" on The X Factor final 6 show.

Andy takes on a Whitney classic tonight.

Despite looking really relaxed as he takes centre stage Andy somehow misses his intro cue for the song.

Andy Abraham gets off to an unfortunate start when he misses his intro for "I have nothing".

For a couple of seconds his discomfort is obvious, but then, like a true pro he hops onto the melody and continues singing as if nothing had happened.

Well, maybe not quite, because this is without doubt Andy's weakest vocal performance in the finals so far. He doesn't sing it badly, but he does seem to strain on some of the big notes. Perhaps the early error has tensed up his voice box a little, or maybe his breathing control is letting him down a bit?

Either way nerves have got to Andy a little bit and he suffers badly tonight in comparison to his own high standards. The good news is that it's still not a bad vocal, it just seems that way because we know what to expect from the Enfield crooner.
Simon Cowell's expression isn't looking good as he begins his critique of Andy Abraham's performance on The X Factor final 6 show!
Sharon seems worried when Simon describes Andy as "struggling". She goes on the attack and questions Simon's motives, but is completely disarmed when Andy agrees with Simon!
The admission impressed us as much as any great vocal performance could. It uderlines Andy's integrity as an artist that he wasn't prepared to just stand there and pretend that everything was okay.
Without the wobbly start his performance would surely have been much better. Tonight he'll be hoping that the public can make an allowance for him and remember the standard of his earlier performances. Providing they do, you can bet that normal service will be resumed next Saturday!

Panel-Bites:

Sharon Osbourne:  (Introduction) Oh yes! Well... fabulous! It's the fabulous Andy!

Intro clip...

Andy:  I'm loving the X Factor. It's the greatest thing for years to happen to me but I'm missing my family tremendously.

Denise:  (Andy's wife) With Andy not being at home, we miss him dearly. You know, I miss him cuddling me at night but this is his love. This is where he needs to be.

Andy:  As much as we're apart now, they know that I love them very much and that I'm doing this for all of us. I just want to make a better life for us all.

Jacob:  (Andy's son) I don't want me dad to be working as a bin man, I want him to be a pop star.

Sharon Osbourne:  Andy, I know is missing his family but it's really do or die and this week is 'such' an important week.

Andy:  The song that I am doing is without doubt the hardest song that I've done but I'm optimistic... optimistic... he says, shaking like that! (Laughs)

Andy sings...

Kate Thornton:  Simon, your comments please?

Simon Cowell:  Andy... ahm, very difficult to recover after that false start. I mean I think that comes down to nerves. Ahm, I think absolute raw pure emotion carried you through at the end of that song

Andy:  Yeah.

Simon Cowell:  ...Because up to that point, you were struggling, let me tell you.

Andy:  (Agreeing sound) Mmmm. (Pulls a face)

Simon Cowell:  (Audience boos) Did someone say rubbish? Ahm, I don't think it was your best performance, to be honest with you. (More boos) That's not to say a lot of people aren't gonna like it, but you're always gonna be compared to Whitney on that song.

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Simon. Louis?

Louis Walsh:  Andy!

Sharon Osbourne:  Wow! Whitney! What else is he gonna say? You should go in drag!

Louis Walsh:  Hey, it's my turn, my turn. Andy, you were fantastic, don't listen to Simon. (Cheers) You were absolutely fantastic, you really were. And you know what, Andy? (Audience cheer and stomp their feet) You will never, ever, ever have to be a bin man again. You are a brilliant, brilliant singer and you performed that very, very well.

Kate Thornton:  Thank you, Louis. Sharon, you're mentoring Andy. I'm sure there is a lot you'd like to say.

Sharon Osbourne:  Yeah, I mean Andy did have a false start on that song...

Andy:  Yeah.

Sharon Osbourne:  ...he missed his intro, but you know what? At the end of the song, it was all forgotten. He made up for it. And the thing is Simon, please... Do you know what everybody right now... this show... everybody's nerves are fried... everybody's under so much pressure...

Simon Cowell:  I'm nervous.

Sharon Osbourne:  But the thing is... people listen to you at home. Don't...

Simon Cowell:  I like Andy.

Sharon Osbourne:  Don't...

Simon Cowell:  No, no, I like him

Sharon Osbourne:  Don't... don't do it to him…

Simon Cowell:  ...but I'm not gonna patronise him

Sharon Osbourne:  I'm not asking you…

Simon Cowell:  I'm not gonna be nice for the sake of it.

Kate Thornton:  Okay?

Sharon Osbourne:  I'm not asking you for for the sake of it

Simon Cowell:  You just did!

Kate Thornton:  (Trying to move on.) Thanks guys...

Sharon Osbourne:  'cause you know he's good.

Simon Cowell:  (Grinning) You just did.

Sharon Osbourne:  No!

Kate Thornton:  Let's hear from Andy?

Sharon Osbourne:  (To Simon) You... you are doing it to knock him!

Simon Cowell:  (Shakes his head) I'm not.

Sharon Osbourne:  Because you want to win! You wanna win!

Kate Thornton:  Andy, you've heard what the judges have got to say. Very quickly, what would you like to say back?

Sharon Osbourne:  (To Simon) You are doing it because you want to win!

Andy:  I just... I would just like to say Simon, you know, he was right. (Simon nods) You know the nerves... The nerves were there. Yes. It was a huge song. And I just hope I really impressed and you know... (Big cheers drown Andy out)

Kate Thornton:  Well you certainly impressed 'em in here Andy.

Andy:  Listen, listen, Si...

Kate Thornton:  Go on?

Andy:  Simon's got... he's got a lot of years of experience and I really do take everything he says on board...

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Andy.

Andy:  ...as I do Louis and Sharon.

Kate Thornton:  Thank you! So... were you as impressed as the guys here in the studio with Andy? If you were... (Kate gives out the voting numbers etc) ...Ladies and gentlemen, let's hear it for Andy! (Andy thanks the audience and gives them a big thumbs up before walking off stage).
