Brenda Edwards is singing Last Dance, but she's hoping it won't be her last on The X Factor stage!
We've seen Brenda Edwards dance already on The X Factor stage but tonight she's singing "Last Dance". She must be hoping the voting public won't be taking the words to her song too literally!

Vivacious Brenda makes all the right moves on stage tonight. Her vocal is spirited and feel good and as usual that big smile of hers is totally infectious.

The pièce de résistance of this performance though has got to be the sensational shivering shimmie she does at the end of the number. There's no doubt about it, Brenda is having fun up there!

Her sparky  performance is in stark contrast to the Brenda we saw on her pre-performance VT clip. A very different Brenda was shown without smiles and lacking in confidence. Apparently it's all that "Mr Nasty" Simon Cowell's fault!

It seems she took the judges' comments to heart last week, especially when Simon questioned whether he could class her as a "recording artist". Furthermore, it seems that Brenda is still nursing more hurt dating back to her audition in Belfast. Apparently he told her he didn't think she was sexy!

Her video tears don't stir-up much compassion from Mr Cowell though. Instead he refers to her VT in slightly mocking tones, and even compares it to Gwyneth Paltrow's Oscar acceptance speech!
Brenda Edwards has been sad because she thought Simon Cowell didn't think she's sexy... but Simon tells her she is sexy after all!
Give Simon his due, he is always happy to admit when he is wrong and he takes back what he said to Brenda in Belfast. Furthermore, and much to Brenda's delight, he upgrades her to a "sexy little thing"!
If she plays her cards right he might even offer her a recording contract by the time this X Factor series is over!

Panel-Bites:

Sharon Osbourne:  (Introduction) Now we go to the only solo female artist left in the contest. Brenda.

Intro clip...

Sharon Osbourne:  I think that the pressure of being the only female soloist left in the contest is huge on her.

Brenda:  I know I've got to bring it each week now. It's really down to tooth and nail.

We see a shot of Brenda dabbing tears.

Sharon Osbourne:  Brenda is down from last week's comment by the judges

Flashback to Simon telling Brenda "I'm still not sure whether you are a recording artist."

Sharon Osbourne:  There's no rules to say she hasn't got a recording voice. Who says? Simon says?

Brenda:  (Crying) In my first audition Simon said I wasn't sexy and I tried to do something about it... (Shot of Brenda working out) ...to fit in to what society see as a successful recording artist... I'm just working really hard for this.

Sharon Osbourne:  This is one dream she is not gonna give up on.

Brenda:  I'm gonna show Simon I am a recording artist and you should never judge a book by the cover.

Brenda sings...

Kate Thornton:  Louis, your your comments please?

Louis Walsh:  Brenda... Brenda, Brenda... this man owes you an apology. Simon, how could you say she's not sexy?

Simon Cowell:  Brenda, Brenda when did I say you weren't sexy?

Brenda:  At Belfast.

Simon Cowell:  What did I say to you?

Brenda:  You said you don't look very sexy.

Louis Walsh:  (Tapping his pen on the table) Well Simon you were wrong...

Brenda:  (To Simon) You did.

Louis Walsh:  ...Absolutely wrong!

Simon Cowell:  Hang on, hang on... Okay, well if I said it,

Louis Walsh:  That's not fair. Brenda! ... Brenda...

Simon Cowell:  .... If I said it then I take it back and I apologise. (Brenda grins broadly. Audience cheer loudly)

Louis Walsh:  Good, good, good. Brenda! ... Brenda that was an amazing performance tonight. I think it's one of the best performances so far on this series. Can I also say there's two people in the whole world that I will not throw a glass of water over... One is Cher and the other is Sharon Osbourne. (Some audience laugher. Sharon laughs. Simon looks over at Louis, puzzled)

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Louis. Simon?

Simon Cowell:  I don't get that? Anyway... (Audience laugh) ...I don't understand what he just said... but let's...

Sharon Osbourne:  (Explains. Looks toward Louis proudly) Because we're both divas!

Louis Walsh:  (Laughing) Yes.

Simon Cowell:  But let's put things into perspective Brenda. If you'd have known a year ago that you were going to be singing in front of me you'd be happy, right?.

Louis Walsh:  Yeah, but Simon, Brenda deserves a recording deal, she absolutely does...

Simon Cowell:  No, no... but what I'm saying is it was just an opinion. (Laughing tone) The VT clip was like Gwyneth Paltrow's Oscar acceptance speech. (Brenda bites her lip) The tears... I mean you know 'enjoy yourself'! It was an opinion! You know, the public...

Louis Walsh:  ...she wants it so bad.

Simon Cowell:  ...if they like you...

Kate Thornton:  Simon did you like the performance?

Simon Cowell:  Loved it!

Kate Thornton:  Thank you very much. (Cheers) Sharon? What did you think?

Sharon Osbourne:  Hey! Brenda knows what I think, she's an amazing woman and just so much respect to you. Love you.

Brenda: Thank you Sharon.

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Sharon. (Turns to Brenda) Brenda what would you like to say back to those comments?

Brenda:  Ahm, thank you once again to the judges for your comments. I really value your opinion Simon. Thank you so much.

Simon Cowell:  Thank you very much

Brenda:  Very nice to hear that from you.

Simon Cowell:  You sexy little thing!

Brenda:  Ahm... (Breaks into a laugh) ...I do try to come up here and have fun every single week. I'm having such a great time. You know, as much as I might miss my children if I can get the chance to come back and go with it ehm... so that I can get to the final... my kids will be coming all the way with me, so...

Simon Cowell:  Brenda. Just keep fluttering those eyelashes.

Louis Walsh:  (Agreeing) Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Simon. Okay, does Brenda get your vote tonight? (Kate gives out the voting numbers etc, Brenda does a mime for the viewers) (To Brenda) Are you flirting?

Brenda:  No! (Laughs)

Kate Thornton:  (Laughing) Ladies and gentlemen, she gave us some great disco, it's Brenda! (Cheers, Brenda hugs Kate and exits waving)
