Laura Conway looks as though she's enjoying being up on stage tonight.

The Conway Sisters are first up on The X Factor stage and they are looking great tonight. Faye Saywer has surpassed herself in the styling stakes.

The sisters also sing with style. It's the passionate powerful performance that Whitney's power ballad requires. Perhaps not absolutely note perfect, but still very good indeed.

It seems a pity to us that Sharon decides to use her critique time as a platform to berate Louis for putting the girls through last week instead of Maria Lawson. There is after all a time and a place for everything. She may be in the right place, but it certainly doesn't feel like the right time!

The Conway Sisters finish off their rendition of "One Moment In Time" on The X Factor stage tonight.
Maria Lawson's face remains impassive throughout Sharon Osbourne's verbal attack on Louis Walsh.

The girls may have felt quite small up there waiting for some comments whilst the melodrama played on. They and all the contestants deserve better than that!

It's also difficult to know what Maria thought of having her name dragged into the drama. Was it coincidence that a camera was trained on her throughout Sharon's outburst? Maybe?

Maria maintained a dignified and impassive countenance throughout the panel pow-wow.

Sinead Conway belts out some high notes during The Conway's rendition of the Whitney classic "One Moment In Time"
Eventually Louis and Simon get a chance to do what they are there for. They both praise the girls, although Simon once again wonders if the song is too big for them.

Panel-Bites:

Simon Cowell:  (Introduction) Not a lot of pressure on these four tonight... It's The Conway Sisters.

Intro clip...

Marie:  When we found out we were in the bottom two obviously we were very upset.

Sharon:  One of the hardest things we've ever had to cope with in our lives.

Simon Cowell:  I honestly don't know whether I made the right decision or the wrong decision but I thought it was right to be loyal to the girls.

Sinéad: When Louis said he was going to keep us in the competition we just didn't understand what was going on.

Laura:  There was a lot of booing in the audience. (Shaking her head) Why do we deserve that kind of reaction?

Louis Walsh:  Maybe I made the wrong decision, but I gave The Conways a lifeline. Now they have to prove that they deserve this chance.

Sharon:  It has been one of the worst weeks we've ever, ever had, not just as a group. (Wells up and covers her eyes.)

Simon Cowell:  It's put the girls under a huge, huge amount of pressure this week but the girls have decided to choose their own song and I respect their choice.

Marie: After everything that's happened to us since last weekend, we need to prove why we're here. This is gonna be the toughest performance of our lives.

The Conway Sisters sing...

Kate Thornton:  Louis, let's start with you. Your comments please?

Louis Walsh:  Well girls, you know this is a real, real tricky one because I put you through as everybody knows last week, and I got a really hard time about it, from 'everybody', not too... some people not too far away from me. But I'm really glad 'cause I think that has been your best performance so far in this series and I'm really glad I gave you the chance. (Big cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Okay, thank you Louis. Sharon?

Sharon Osbourne:  (Pauses) Uhm... right now Kate I have just got to say something before I can really comment... Louis?

Louis Walsh:  Yeah?

Sharon Osbourne:  Can you imagine Maria up there singing that song? Who do you think would have done it best?.

Louis Walsh:  Well she's not up there so I can't answer that question... (Some booing)

Sharon Osbourne:  No, she's not up there because...

Louis Walsh:  Listen... Sharon... Sharon...

Sharon Osbourne:  ...you made the wrong decision...

Louis Walsh:  Everybody in this audience

Sharon Osbourne:  ...you made the wrong decision...

Louis Walsh:  No I did not.

Sharon Osbourne:  Be a man Louis?

Louis Walsh:  No!

Sharon Osbourne:  Stand up now in front of 10 million people...

Louis Walsh:  No.

Sharon Osbourne:  ...and say you made the wrong decision. (Shot of Maria in the audience)

Louis Walsh:  No way...

Sharon Osbourne:  Why?

Louis Walsh:  ...Sharon... No because I don't think I made the wrong decision. Everybody loved the girls here tonight. Everybody loved them... (Loud cheers and applause) ... Everybody loved them.

Sharon Osbourne:  Be a man... be a man.

Louis Walsh:  No, no... no, no... Sharon. This has nothing to do with me being Irish and them being Irish or the

Sharon Osbourne:  (Pointing with her pen) I didn't say that... I said "be a man". I didn't say "be Irish" I said "be a man"... (Some laughter)

Louis Walsh:  And what?...

Sharon Osbourne:  ...face Maria... (Pointing) ...sat over there.

Louis Walsh:  (Turns) Maria...

Sharon Osbourne:  Face Maria.

Louis Walsh:  I've done Maria the best favour of her life because everybody in the country knows who she is. I think she's gonna do... (Another shot of Maria, staying expressionless.)

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Louis... Thank you Louis.

Sharon Osbourne:  Maria didn't... (Leaning in on Louis and pointing) ...She didn't enter this contest to be on the front of every tabloid, okay? (Shot of Maria casting a downward gaze) She didn't enter this contest to have people feel sorry for her because she was thrown out...

Louis Walsh:  But Sharon I made my decision...

Sharon Osbourne:  And you made the wrong decision.

Louis Walsh:  ...and I stood by it.

Kate Thornton:  Okay, thank you judges.

Sharon Osbourne:  (Angry tone) Okay, stand by it. Say it again!

Louis Walsh:  (To The Conways) Well done girls.

Sharon Osbourne:  Say it again?

Louis Walsh:  Well done girls!

Kate Thornton:  Thank you. Simon, let's hear from you. You're mentoring The Conways, what would you like to say?

Simon Cowell:  (Sarcastic) Oh you want... you wanna hear from me?

Kate Thornton:  Absolutely.

Simon Cowell:  Thank god for that. Girls, ahhm... I think... wow, I think it was more the statement that, than anything else. Ahm... I... Look, at the end of the day the public are going to decide on that. I think the song may have been too big for you. However, the sentiment may carry you through tonight and I thought that was very brave of you. (Cheers as The Conways thank Simon)

Kate Thornton:  Thank you very much judges. (Turns to The Conways) Girls what would you like to say back to those comments?

Marie:  Basically ehm, we have had a really tough week but we're very grateful to be here and we're just grateful for this whole opportunity, because We love singing, we love what what we do and we just love the whole experience... so thank you.

Sinéad: And can we also say a thank you to Louis and to Simon for keeping us in last week and for lettng us show what we have to offer this week again.

Laura:  And the public for the previous week. (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Okay girls. So, you've heard what the judges have got to say... and the girls. But do they get your vote tonight... (Kate gives out the voting numbers etc) ... but for now, ladies and gentlemen, on your feet for the Conways. (Cheers and Applause)
