Nicholas Dorsett sings 'I Believe I Can Fly' during the X Factor Final 8 show.
Hitting the bottom 2 shook Nicholas up a bit last week. He knows he really needs to make an impact tonight to progress in this contest.
Our first impressions are good as Nicholas hits the stage, his hair in cornrows and his style immaculate. The song choice tonight is surprising though, because Simon has often complained about this song on other shows!
Sharon Osbourne compliments Nicholas on his styling tonight.
Nicholas's overall performance is pretty good, but it's marred slightly by some off-key moments. The panel don't pick up on this, although their reactions are kind of predictable. Sharon loves his look but says little about the performance; Simon is bored by the song choice, loyal mentor Louis says Nicholas is a star!
We're not certain that Nicholas has done quite enough to keep out of the danger zone, but we hope he does, because at just 18 he has bags of potential.

Panel-Bites:

Louis Walsh:  (Introduction) Okay guys, he's young, cool, dude... it's Nicholas.

Intro clip...

Nicholas:  Last week when I found out I was in the bottom two I felt disappointed and really scared because I felt I was lettin' Louis down an' lettin' my family down. (Nicholas bows, head in hand and seems a little choked)

Louis Walsh:  I was totally shocked with the result. I didn't think he'd be in the bottom two and he was so, so shaken.

Nicholas:  You suddenly realise that it could all be over in about 5 minutes.

Louis Walsh:  It was an absolute nightmare decision to make but I went with Nicholas because I think that he can get a lot, lot better on the show.

Nicholas:  I hope the song that I've got this week will be the one that turns my situation around. It sort of relates to how I've been feeling this week.

Louis Walsh:  We need Nicholas to get his confidence back. What I'm looking for is that one standout performance.

Nicholas:  I know tonight that I've got to go out and deliver the best performance that I've ever done in this competition, 'cause if I don't this could be the end.

Nicholas sings...

Kate Thornton:  Sharon, your comments please?

Sharon Osbourne:  Nick-eeee! (Someone whistles in the audience) A great song for you. Really good song. Ahm, I felt really happy for you this week 'cause of the song... fitted you so well.

Nicholas:  Thank you.

Sharon Osbourne:  Really good, and I love the look. (Cheers) I love you... that you've dropped the old er... I like you've dropped the old 'Boyz 'n' the Hood look. This is stunning, you're handsome and gorgeous and you should keep dressing like this (Audience cheers)

Nicholas:  (Smiling) Thank you Sharon very much.

Sharon Osbourne:  Gorgeous boy. Well done Nicholas.

Nicholas:  Thank you. Thank you Sharon.

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Sharon. Simon!

Simon Cowell:  It was okay... you know. (Boos) It was okay. I mean you look good tonight. I kept you in last week because I think there is great potential for you, but that performance I suppose is rather like having dinner with your mentor Louis. (Boos)

Louis Walsh:  (Smiling, shaking his head) I won't be having dinner with you Simon.

Simon Cowell:  Pleasant but forgettable. (Laughter)

Louis Walsh:  Ohhhhhhh!

Simon Cowell:  No, but seriously, it's like there was no effort from Louis into choosing the song. It's so predictable to do 'I Believe I Can Fly'. I've heard it so many times and it's... there's nothing different about it. There's nothing young about it, there's nothing unique about it. It's like you've run out of...

Louis Walsh:  Arrrhh shut up! Shut up! ...You're boring now! (Louis laughs, audience cheers.)

Kate Thornton:  Okay...

Simon Cowell:  (Stunned into momentary silence) You've run out of ideas...

Kate Thornton:  ...Louis let's...

Simon Cowell:  ...You've run out of ideas and you choose 'I Believe I Can Fly'

Louis Walsh:  (Dismissively) Shut up. (Sharon covers her face in shock) Nicholas...

Kate Thornton:  Louis? Let's hear from you?

Louis Walsh:  Nicholas, you're so much better than last week, and I'm really really glad that you got a chance... And you look like a star, you sang like a star... I think Simon's a bit jealous.

Simon Cowell:  I'm not jealous!

Louis Walsh:  You are!!

Simon Cowell:  (To Nicholas) I like you!

Louis Walsh:  You are.

Sharon Osbourne:  (Intervenes) Uh... these two old tarts... would you mind er, shhhhh-schtummin' it.

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Sharon. (Turns to Nicholas) Er, Nicholas!

Nicholas:  Yes.

Kate Thornton:  You've heard what the panel have got to say. What would you like to say back to those comments?

Nicholas:  Er, I'd just like to say thank you for your comments... ehm, I'm glad Sharon and Louis liked it, uhm, I'll try and come out here again and impress Simon one more time... ('Arrhhhs' from the audience) ...and I hope I do better next time. (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  So are you going get Nicholas back here next week to impress Simon Cowell? If you are you're going to have to vote for him... (Kate gives out voting numbers etc.) ...but ladies and gentlemen, let's hear it for Nicholas! (Nicholas gets a hug of Kate and leaves the stage)
