Shayne Ward - X Factor Final 8 Show

Shayne enjoys a great reaction from the panel after his X Factor Final 8 performance of Cry Me A River.
In his pre-performance video clip Shayne sounds like he's losing faith in Louis' song choices, but this week Louis has done him proud by giving him Justin Timberlake's hit. However Louis is also bowing to pressure from his fellow judges who are keen to hear him sing more contemporary numbers.
Shayne faces a new challenge tonight. He has to sing whilst performing a synchronised dance routine on stage. He walks on stage, stubble-cheeked and styled in urban cool with a slightly rough young Robert De Niro edge. He begins the song alone, but soon has the company of 6 trilby topped ladies.

He delivers a perfect vocal and some pretty good dancing to boot. His steps aren't overly complicated but nevertheless his timing is very impressive for a beginner!

At one point in the routine the 6 sexy ladies circle around him like they're doing a fertility dance and he's their sex god! Enough said!

Shayne Ward gives his first song and dance performance on The X Factor tonight.
This is a big improvement on Shayne's previous 2 performances. Shayne's vocal proves his pop credentials and the choreography provides an extra sparkle to dazzle the panel, who are gushing in their praise!

We never did find out what Sharon had for Shayne, all we know is that "It's warm... it feels 'really' nice... and it smells good too!" Tonight, Sharon challenges our imagination by adding that it's 'furry'. We don't have to wonder for long though, Sharon stands up and displays her Pomeranian!

Yes, it's her cute little doggie, Minnie! With all her fur Minnie probably does feel nice and warm... but I've yet to meet a dog that doesn't smell bad now and then! Has Sharon really given Shayne her Minnie? Perhaps she's just let him stroke it!

Panel-Bites:

Louis Walsh:  (Introduction) Okay everybody! We've got a young guy all the way from Manchester. He's extremely talented. His name is Shayne Ward.

Intro clip...

Shayne:  The last 2 weeks I haven't reached the standards that I know I can give in me performance, because I don't know whether I've peaked too early.

Louis Walsh:  I really hope Shayne hasn't begun to doubt why he's in this competition because I know he's a lot more to give.

Shayne:  Simon said that Louis' been picking the wrong songs for us, but I just don't know how to take everything at the moment.

Louis Walsh:  I got a lot of stick from Simon and Sharon about the song choices and stuff and I really hope that Shayne hasn't lost faith in me.

Shayne:  I have questioned Louis' judgement. I think that mine and Louis' working relationship is definitely on the line, but I've put my faith in him because he's put his faith in me, so I'm not going to let him down... The song that I've got this week is a complete change. The difference with this is... is that it involves dancing. I am worried, because I'm not a professional dancer, and all the pressure's on tonight to fulfill my potential, but I'm gonna make sure it happens.

Shayne sings...

Kate Thornton:  Okay, Simon! Your comments please?

Simon Cowell:  Well first of all Shayne, welcome back to the 21st century. (Cheers) I mean seriously, that was... great performance, um, I've got to tell you something Shayne. Um you have I believe the potential, with the right songs, to be, within 2 to 3 years, I think, possibly the most successful solo male artist in this country. (Big cheers, Shayne smiles) ...I really mean it... it was... you know it... it... it just... it just shows you the difference... (Simon glances at Louis) ...'Louis' between a great performance and karaoke. (Some laughter) I mean the difference within one week is fantastic! I mean great. (Cheers. Shayne gives Simon the thumbs up.)

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Simon. Sharon!

Sharon Osbourne:  Yeah, um, Shayne it is so nice to see a 21-year-old singing a song which is appropriate for a 21-year-old...

Simon Cowell:  Yeah, I agree.

Sharon Osbourne:  You look like a 21-year-old now... The way you're dressing... your hair's happening, looks great. (Gives Shayne a thumbs-up) Louis has finally taken you out of the ehm, leprechaun stage and kind of let you be yourself. And I think that that talk that we had to him about the song worked (To Simon) didn't it? (Louis laughs) (To Shayne) I mean it worked for you...

Shayne:  Okay.

Sharon Osbourne:  ...Because Simon and I suggested the song. It took a lot of convincing, but he did it. But anyway...

Simon Cowell:  But he listened!

Sharon Osbourne:  ...he did. In the end he did.

Simon Cowell:  Yeah. (Teasing an embarrassed laughing Louis) Credit... you listened!

Louis Walsh:  Yeah!

Sharon Osbourne:  The king of pop listened. But... one thing... do you remember a couple of weeks ago... Shayne I said that I had ahm... something for you that was warm... (Audience laughter and wooos!) ...furry, and smelt nice?

Shayne:  Yeah.

Sharon Osbourne:  Well now, I want you to see it. (More laughter/whooos.)

Shayne:  Okay.

Sharon Osbourne:  And it's all here. (Sharon reaches below her desk and pulls out her doggie.)

Shayne:  Arrhh! (Audience ‘arrhs’ too. Simon laughs.)

Kate Thornton:  Okay, thank you... thank you Sharon. Louis! ... Louis?

Louis Walsh:  Yeah, Shayne. You... you made yourself proud tonight. You did a fantastic job. You sang and you danced. Very few people can do that. I think you've got everything it has to be a star (sic). And they did... (Nods) ...they did suggest the song, but you're the person that sang it. And that's a hard thing to do.

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Louis.

Louis Walsh:  10 out of 10.

Kate Thornton:  Thank you. (Turns to Shayne) Shayne! Amazing comments. What would you like to say back to the judges?

Shayne:  Erm, all I wanted to do was just step up a gear and show people that I am determined and I really want this as any... any other person. But I mean I want to show yus how much I want it. So hopefully, I hope this performance has proved to you how much I want it.

Simon Cowell:  (Nodding) Great... (Audience Cheers) ...Great.

Kate Thornton:  Well did it prove it to you at home? If Shayne gets your vote tonight... (Kate gives out voting numbers etc...) ...But for now... what a way to open the show! Let's hear it for 'Shayne'! (Shayne kissed Kate on the cheek and exits)
