Chico Slimani - X Factor Final 9 Show

Chico Slimani
Song: Kiss  Check out 'Kiss' at Amazon.co.uk (Prince  Check out 'Prince' at Amazon.co.uk)

Chico Slimani is liking hearing Simon say he's liking him!
It's Chico Time!
Chico knows a lot of people are expecting him to leave tonight, but declares "I'm not going anywhere without a fight!"
Although he has yet to really impresss us with his vocal, Chico's natural showmanship has carried him through on sheer entertainment value.
During the first part of tonight's song Chico stands at the mike making some dubious pseudo-falsetto sounds. Things get better half-way through when he drops down to a more natural register and starts strutting his stuff on the stage.
Louis and Sharon both love the performance. More amazingly though, Simon, who walked out of Chico's audition, now finds himself apologising to him for his previous remarks!
Chico is naturally over the moon. He has the audience eating out of his hand, shouting "It's Chico Time!" on demand.
Chico has something, but is it 'The X Factor'?

Panel-Bites:

Sharon Osbourne:  (Introduction) I just have three words. It's Chico time.

Intro clip...

Chico:  I'm the one that everyone's convinced I'm going out tonight.

Sharon Osbourne:  He's holding on by his fingertips. I mean he's like...(Gestures to indicate that Chico is just hanging on) ...you know.

Chico:  All I can say is this week I've been preparin'! Physically... (Shot of semi-naked Chico on the treadmill!)... voice wise. Yeah, I've done all that I can do to be ready for tonight.

Sharon Osbourne:  I look at an artist as a whole, and the situation with Chico is... You look at everybody, if you were going for a night out and you wanted live entertainment who would you buy a ticket to for? You'd buy a ticket for Chico.

Chico:  Come tonight I'm gonna sing like no-one's listening. I'm gonna dance like no-one's watchin' and I'm not going anywhere without a fight!

Chico sings...

Kate Thornton:  (Laughing) Okay, Louis! Your comments please?

Louis Walsh:  Chico! You're getting better week by week. I think that's your best performance.

Chico:  (Bows in a prayer gesture) Thank you...

Louis Walsh:  Everybody here is having a good time. You put a smile on everybody's face and Sharon did say "You're a born entertainer!" Absolutely. (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Louis. Er, Simon!

Simon Cowell:  I don't know what's happening to me but I'm liking you! (Laughter and cheers, Chico creases up.) ...I don't... I don't know what... I don't know what's happening. I mean I absolutely...

Sharon Osbourne:  (Explains to Simon) It's Chico time!

Simon Cowell:  ...despised you at the beginning, but... (Audience laughter) ...look the first half of the song was horrible....

Sharon Osbourne:  (Sounding shocked) Waaahhh!

Simon Cowell:  ...and then the second. (To Sharon) It was. (To Chico) and then...

Sharon Osbourne:  Behave! It wasn't it was good!

Simon Cowell:  No, come on, let's get real.

Sharon Osbourne:  No, I...

Simon Cowell:  The second... (Laughter) ...the second half it worked. And you know The X Factor is about being different. You know, you're coming out here, you are entertaining the audience. I am really pleased that I kept you in from last week and I actually apologise for what I said to you at the beginning, because I'm glad you're here.

Chico:  (Bows) Wow.

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Simon! Sharon! Over to you.

Sharon Osbourne:  Well... I have to say... You know what? To quote my dear friend Louis, I really do not wanna lose Chico and I don't think this show needs to lose Chico, because without you it would be very dull.

Simon Cowell:  I agree.

Louis Walsh:  (Surprised at Simon) Hey!... Sharon? (Big cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Chico! You've been waiting for these words to spill from their lips. What would you like to say back?

Chico:  I ca... I ca... I really can't believe this. Let the flabbergastedness continue! (Laughter) You know... actually, one thing I would like to say is actually I want to apologise to the judges because erm, the way, you know, I've behaved in the past, and I didn't take your criticisms constructively and gracefully. So really, my humble apologies, especially to you Simon. You beat me to it. But all I can say is I'm doing my best and every week I seem to be getting better and the whole... this whole amazing experience is so rewarding when you walk down the street and you get a 6-year-old kid coming up to you going "Mum! It's Chico time!" (Laughter) And I've just got to say (Raises his arms aloft) "What time is it!!"

Audience: It's Chico time!

Chico:  Lovely!

Kate Thornton:  Okay!... So check your watch... if it really is Chico time in your world and you want to see him back here next week... (Kate laughs at Chico's miming actions as she gives out the voting numbers etc.)

Chico:  (Blows a kiss into the audience) Love you too. I love you too!

Kate Thornton:  Chico! I think I love you too!

Chico:  (Arm around Kate, gives her a kiss on the cheek) Mmmm-wah!

Kate Thornton:  Let's hear it for Chico!

Chico:  (Grinning) What time is it?

Kate Thornton:  It's Chico time! (Chico exits.)
