The Conway Sisters - X Factor Final 10 Show

The Conway Sisters
Song: Total Eclipse Of The Heart  Check out 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart' at Amazon.co.uk (Bonnie Tyler  Check out 'Bonnie Tyler' at Amazon.co.uk )

Marie Conway shares the lead vocal with her sister Sinéad tonight.
The Conway Sisters and their mentor Simon are feeling a bit vulnerable tonight, because both of the acts that have left the contest so far have been groups!
Their song tonight is Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of The Heart'. Bonnie called the girls during last night's Xtra Factor show and wished them good luck. One thing we know for sure is that the Conways' version will be quite different to Bonnie's original raspy rendition!
Marie and Sinéad alternate on lead vocal, Sharon and Laura are on harmony duty. The vocal mix really works well, and not only are the girls beautifully styled tonight, they are beautifully composed too. They close out the song on a rich and vibrant a capella harmony.
Louis Walsh remarks that Marie Conway has a great commercial voice. Sister Sinéad sounds pretty good tonight too!
Louis and Sharon both praise the girls. Louis remarks that Marie has "a great, great commercial voice". On tonight's evidence we would say the same about her sister Sinéad!
Once again Simon is strangely downbeat about the girls performance and tells the girls it fell apart in the middle. "I just pray the audience give you another chance." he tells them. Maybe it sounds entirely different in the studio, because we didn't think it fell apart at all. Maybe the girls were just too convincing when they sang the line "every now and then I fall apart"!
Laura Conway may be the baby of the bunch, but she's not stuck for a few words under pressure. She is a great spokes-sister tonight.

We wonder if Simon is simply trying to get the Conway's voters motivated by making it sound like they are in trouble.

Whatever his own motivation, it appears that The Conway Sisters are besotted by their mentor. Baby of the bunch, Laura is on spokes-sister duties and she did a great job of conveying their appreciation for their X Factor opportunity!

Panel-Bites:

Simon Cowell:  (Introduction) Well, I've only got 2 left. (Big 'Arrrrrrh's from the audience) and this is one of them. It's The Conway Sisters.

Laura:  (Seated on a couch with her sisters) Last Saturday night it really felt for us like the competition had just started. It was definitely a turning point for us.

Sharon:  I think we do definitely feel a lot more relaxed about it this time. We're just happier with the song choices.

Marie:  Even though we're feeling better about ourselves this week we're feeling quite vulnerable because two of the groups have already gone. It is quite frightening because nobody knows who's gonna go next. It could be another group.

Simon Cowell:  I know how vulnerable the Conways are feeling right now, and I can understand that. You know, you wake up on Sunday morning and suddenly you go "I've only got 2 artists left". I'm nervous! I'll be honest with you, I'm nervous. But hats off to these girls. Last week they nailed it. I'm confident tonight. They're up for the challenge. I mean they understand that this is a difficult song and they're going to give it their best.

Marie:  We absolutely do deserve to be in this competition and we're going to go out there tonight and we're going to prove that.

The Conway Sisters sing...

Kate Thornton:  Louis, your comments please?

Louis Walsh:  Well, I know these girls from Ireland, and they're flying the Irish flag tonight. That was a very, very brave song to take on. I think you did really, really well, and Marie has got such a great, great commercial voice.

Marie: Thank you.

Louis Walsh:  Well done. I hope yee get the votes.

Marie:  Thank you. (All the Conway girls are smiling)

Kate Thornton:  Thank you. Sharon?

Sharon Osbourne:  Ya, it was a really tough song to do 4-part harmonies to and you did it justice, you did really well. And I'd like to say, you 4 are such little ravers! I saw you 4 the other night throwing it around that dance floor.

Laura:  It was good fun.

Sharon Osbourne:  What little ravers you are! Well done tonight though.

Sinéad:  Thank you. (Cheers and applause)

Kate Thornton:  Simon? You're mentoring The Conway Sisters, what would you like to say to the girls?

Simon Cowell:  Well, this was a tough song girls. Ahm, if I'm going to be honest, I thought parts of the song were great and then in the middle part it kind of fell apart a bit to be honest with you. And maybe it was my fault, because I chose this song for you, as Sharon said it's a very difficult song to sing as a 4 part. I know how nervous you've been all day long, ahm, I just pray the audience give you another chance.

Louis Walsh:  I think the public will Simon.

Sharon Osbourne:  I do too. (Big Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  (Turns to the girls) Girls, it was surprising there to receive criticism from your own mentor. What would you like to say back to Simon?

Laura:  I'd like to thank Simon, because I think it's a great mentor that can be honest with you, and we really take that on board. Simon is a great mentor. (Laura looks to her sisters who all nod their approval of Simon!)

Simon Cowell:  (Winks at Laura)

Laura:  Thank you.

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Laura. (Cheers) Overall are you happy with those comments?

Laura:  Very happy. Thanks to all the judges, and can I just say we are really, really enjoying this whole process and we are really learning from everything you tell us and taking on board every piece of advice.

Louis Walsh:  Kate! I actually think they're like the new Nolan Sisters. (Laughing) And we need a new Nolan Sisters!

Kate Thornton:  Okay, thank you Louis.

Simon Cowell:  They're not like the Nolans.

Louis Walsh:  They are.

Kate Thornton:  (To The Conway Sisters) So girls, all in all, very happy with your efforts tonight... yah?

Laura:  Very happy.

Kate Thornton:  Okay! (Turns to the audience) Well they're happy. If they made you happy and you're going to give them your vote... (Kate gives out the voting numbers etc...) ...for now, ladies and gentlemen, The Conway Sisters!
