Chico Slimani enjoys the praise after his performance. Simon thinks like he's like an Armenian Eurovision entrant, but has to admit the man from Morocco has entertainment value!
Having avoided the bottom 2 spot last week and even received "sort of" nice comments from Simon, Chico is feeling much more positive about his X Factor ride.
Chico's singing "Livin La Vida Loca" tonight and he certainly looks like he's living it up on stage backed by 4 very sexy song and dance girls. Of course he begins the number by asking the audience "What time is it?" Naturally they reply "It's Chico time", which means it's time for lots of fun and plenty of action.
Chico's singing holds up okay, the song isn't the most demanding vocally, but does require plenty of character to carry it off, something he has in the bucketloads.
It's his dancing that is the most impressive though. He wiggles his bum, and struts around the stage like he owns it. Halfway through he jumps down into the audience where a cute little blonde girl is waiting for him to give her twirl. Chico obliges, then jumps back up on stage and he even throws in a bouncy splits for good measure!

He strikes a stylish pose as the last note sounds, and is flanked adoringly by his beautiful back-ups. No wonder Chico smiles!

All the panel agree that Chico was great entertainment value, although Simon does liken Chico to the Armenian Eurovision entrant in 1973! However the ex goat herding Moroccan seems to take that as a compliment!

Chico Slimani has got plenty of reasons to enjoy his performance up on The X Factor stage tonight!
He puts Simon to rights over his performance and reminds him that he's performing for the people at home and not to him! ...Even Simon has to smile!

Panel-Bites:

Sharon Osbourne:  (Introduction) ...It's the wonderful Chico.

Intro clip...

Chico:  I feel great! More to the point I feel grateful to be here. (Flashback to last week when Chico just escaped the bottom 2 spot)

Sharon Osbourne:  I'm so pleased for Chico that he got through last week. Hearing positive feedback from Simon just meant the world to him. He's a different person.

Chico:  He said "maybe The X Factor would be dull without you", and I just thought "Yes my son! I love you!" (Chico laughs)

Sharon Osbourne:  He's been working so hard this week to make sure he stays in this contest, and do you know what? He deserves it.

Chico:  I'm a goat herder who's come and lived in Crawley. I was never like the other kids. All I wanted to be, was be accepted and for the first time in my life I felt accepted... and that feeling, oh!... Nobody can ever take that away from me.

Chico sings...

Kate Thornton:  Louis, your comments please? Chico, you are living La Vida Loca. You are great, great fun and you know... it was a great performance and you know you... you really looked like you were enjoying yourself up there, which is great.

Chico:  (Breathless, but smiling) Thank you... Oh well, I must say... for the first time in my life I feel like I'm having a good time! (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Okay, thank you Louis. Er, Simon?

Simon Cowell:  Nothing surprises me on this show any more. (Laughter) I mean seriously! Ahm, Chico, you know like ...like I said last week... you know there... there is an entertainment value with you, I'll give you that. However, if I'm being honest... and I'm not being rude... It was like watching the Armenian entrant to the Eurovision Song contest from 1973! (Chico laughs, the audience laugh and boo) Uhm... so I'm not quite sure what...

Louis Walsh:  Did they win it?

Simon Cowell:  No!!

Louis Walsh:  Oh well he's...

Simon Cowell:  No... it was (in french) 'nil points'...(More laughter) Ahm, so I don't know what relevance this has in this...

Louis Walsh:  Simon, obviously people like him because they're voting for him every week. He's still here! (Cheer)

Simon Cowell:  But do you understand what I'm saying to you Chico?

Chico:  The relevance here is the deliverance! And I'm delivering the performance for the people at home and not you Simon.

Simon Cowell:  (Bemused smile) I said I was enjoying it. (Louis claps energetically)

Kate Thornton:  Thank you. Sharon, you're Chico's mentor, what would you like to add?

Sharon Osbourne:  Cheeky Chico! Woof! Well I like your little Chic-ette...

Simon Cowell:  They're all getting a bit lippy tonight, the contestants, aren't they?

Sharon Osbourne:  They are very lippy!

Simon Cowell:  Yeah, yah... getting a bit lippy.

Sharon Osbourne:  Yes, they all need slapping down. Chico, a very good performance, and I agree with Louis, that song was definitely written for you, because it's about somebody who lives a crazy life... and you do, and you love it, and we love you too.

Chico:  (Smiles) Thank you. (Big cheer)

Kate Thornton:  So Chico!... You, you were so happy last week when you won the Cowell seal of approval. A bit disappointed with those comments?

Chico:  Well.. you know, Mr Simon Cowell I've got the most, utmost respect for him. And contrary to what might... how many people might think... I actually got a real love for him. I don't know, I just love the man. (Cries of 'Arrrhh!' from the audience) I really do, it's true, I really do! He's a great man and you know, he is entitled to his opinion. Ehm, you know Madonna don't sing like Aretha Franklin, Ricky Martin ain't going to be no Stevie Wonder and I'm never going to be no Michael Jackson. But one thing is... god has given me a gift, that is to entertain...

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Chico.

Chico:  ...and hopefully if I make it big.... you know, I'll be able to do something good and... and...

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Chico.

Chico:  ...that's my gift back to him! So thank you very much (raises his arm aloft)!

Kate Thornton:  Thank you... Okay, well if... (Kate notices Chico leaving the stage) ...Don't go! Chico! Chico! Don't walk off, you need the votes or you're out! So... If you are going to keep Chico in... (Aside) It's a nut-house tonight! .. (Kate gives out the voting numbers etc) ... You all right?

Chico:  Absolutely. (He kisses the back of Kate's hand)

Kate Thornton:  Okay, off you go. Chico everyone!
