Shayne Ward - X Factor Final 10 Show

Shayne Ward
Song: Summer of '69  Check out 'Summer of '69' at Amazon.co.uk (Bryan Adams  Check out 'Bryan Adams' at Amazon.co.uk)

Shayne gets great comments from Sharon and Louis. Simon still likes Shayne, but he wanted to hear more gravel on this song tonight.
Shayne is riding high in this year's X Factor contest, especially after last week's brilliant rendition of Daniel Bedingfield's "If You're Not The One".
He's singing "The Summer of '69" tonight, but right from the first beat it's clear that there is something missing. Simon thinks it's vocal grit and accuses him of softening the song up. He's near the mark, the song sounded too smooth around the edges. However we think Shayne's got plenty of grit on tap to roughen up his vocal and wonder if he simply chose not to send the gritters out!
Fortunately things aren't all frosty for him tonight and his road to stardom definitely hasn't frozen over! Sharon even has something warm for him!
Sharon Osbourne is passionate in her praise of Shayne Ward tonight!

We don't actually get to know what this warm thing is she's got for him, unless she means 'the hots'! But then she would have said 'hot', wouldn't she? Thanks to Louis we do know it's not a cup of tea, but sadly, having aroused our curiousity, Sharon decides to keep the matter private (no not 'privates', that was last week!).

Perhaps to keep things 'private', Sharon seems to have invented a bizarre sign language which involves lots of clawing and punching gestures.

Only Shayne seems to speak it...

...which maybe is just as well because tonight's show is aired well before the TV watershed!!

Sharon seems so carried away that Kate has to remind her to critique the performance. "Fabulous" she replies... Yes Sharon, I think we knew that already!

Shayne Ward seems to have some secret sign language going on with Sharon Osbourne!
It's hard to know whether Sharon's drooling dramatics will help or hinder Shayne at this stage of the contest, but he seems comfortable enough with it all and seems to know how to handle her... no, not like that!

Panel-Bites:

Louis Walsh:  (Introduction) Okay everybody, the second person in my category coming on stage tonight is a young guy from Manchester. I think he's got it all. His name is Shayne Ward.

Intro clip...

Shayne:  This has just changed my life so much. Like a few month ago I was only working in a shop in Manchester selling shoes... and I thought "Oh god, is this the life for me?" But now everything's been like a whirlwind. It's like I'm in the papers, I'm on TV performing to millions. It's scary, but I just cannot believe how quick it's all happened.

Louis Walsh:  Shayne, for me, he just gets better and better and better. This week is going to be interesting though because he's gonna do an uptempo song and I just hope he nails it.

Shayne:  I'm on such a high at the moment. I've had fantastic comments. I don't want to let anybody down and I'm scared that it can all just end like that. So, at the moment (raising his hand) I'm up here and I want to stay up here, but I'm really scared of coming down. I just don't want it to end... (shakes his head) don't want it to end.

Shayne sings...

Kate Thornton:  Sharon? Your comments please?

Sharon Osbourne:  (Emphatic) Shayne! I have something for you.

Shayne:  Okay? ( Whooooooos from the audience!)

Sharon Osbourne:  It's warm! (Shrieks from the audience)

Shayne:  (Jokey) Is it warm?

Sharon Osbourne:  It feels 'really' nice!

Shayne:  (More cautious now) Okay?

Sharon Osbourne:  And it smells good too! (Embarrassed titters from the audience)

Shayne:  Okay?

Sharon Osbourne:  When can I give it to you? (Laughter, some jeers)

Shayne:  (No hesitation) Right now!

Sharon Osbourne:  (Throws her head back in laughter)

Shayne:  (Makes beckoning gestures to Sharon, she makes clawing gestures to him, he reciprocates... from a distance!)

Sharon Osbourne:  (Shuffles her fists in the air) Yes!

Simon Cowell:  Well what is it?

Sharon Osbourne:  Well it's warm, it feels nice and it smells nice!

Shayne:  (Shouts across) Leave it to your imagination!

Simon Cowell:  I don't think I want to. (Laughter)

Louis Walsh:  Is it a cup of tea?

Sharon Osbourne:  (Matron voice) Nooo. It's not a cup of tea!

Simon Cowell:  Okay well it is Halloween. (Laughter)

Sharon Osbourne:  (To Louis) You can't drink it! (Sharon cottons on to Simon's dig) That was belooooooow the belt!!! Uhhh!

Simon Cowell:  (Grinning) Okay! okay.

Kate Thornton:  Sharon your ...your comments on the performance please?

Sharon Osbourne:  (Fans her face) Fabulous! (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Simon!

Simon Cowell:  Uhm, Shayne last week I thought actually it was just a one person competition last week. I thought you so stole the competition last week...

Shayne:  That's...

Simon Cowell:  ...and I was expecting a lot more. Last week was magic. This week wasn't, and I'll tell you why...

Sharon Osbourne:  (Gasps)

Simon Cowell:  ...To sing that song you've got to have grit in your voice.

Shayne:  Okay.

Simon Cowell:  And what you did was you softened the song up. So therefore, I don't think it worked. I still think you are a great potential pop star, but that for me was your weakest performance so far.

Shayne:  (Puts his hand up) Can I just say something?

Simon Cowell:  Please.

Kate Thornton:  Thank..! (Stops short)

Shayne:  (To Kate) Please? (To Simon. Shayne rushes the words out a little.) I don't think you need to have gravel in your voice to sing that song. I sang that song because I enjoy singing that song. I don't need to sound like Bryan Adams to perform a Bryan Adams track.

Simon Cowell:  You do.

Shayne:  I believe that this is my voice, that is my song, and hopefully I performed it well. (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Shayne. Louis?... Louis?

Louis Walsh:  Simon, he's... you know he could sing ballads every week but we don't want to sing ballads every week...

Shayne:  We don't want to sing ballads every week, no.

Louis Walsh:  Shayne can sing absolutely anything. He could sing the phone book. I think it was a really good performance Shayne. (Cheers)

Shayne:  Thank you very much.

Louis Walsh:  And you know I believe in you... We want everybody to vote for him. We need your votes.

Shayne:  Thank you Louis.

Sharon Osbourne:  (Shouts excitedly) I think that you could sing naked Shayne and get away with it!

Louis Walsh:  Huh?

Sharon Osbourne:  Absolutely!

Shayne:  (Turns around and wiggles at Sharon)

Kate Thornton:  I think that Sharon would quite like that Shayne. (Laughter) ...Okay, So are you going to vote for Shayne tonight?... (Kate gives out the voting numbers etc.) ...Ladies and gentlemen, it's a fully clothed Shayne!
