Louis Walsh: (Introduction) Okay everybody, first up tonight we've got a young guy from Larne in Northern Ireland. I think he's really got it. Let's see Phillip!
Intro clip... Phillip: I thought I was going to be out on Saturday night. The comments that I got... it made out as if I couldn't sing. I just felt like someone was punching me or somethin' you know. It was... it was tough.
Louis Walsh: Phillip had a really hard time on Saturday night and Simon was particularly nasty to him... (Flashback to Simon describing Phillip's performance as 'terrible'). I don't think he did great but I think he has a lot more to give.
Phillip: It wasn't right on Saturday night. I didn't feel like me. I don't usually sing those types of songs, it's just not me. I felt like a cardboard cut-out or somebody else.
Louis Walsh: Phillip mentioned he wasn't very happy with some of my song choices so this week I'm going to let him pick his own song and I hope it's going to give him more confidence and I hope it's going to be a good performance.
Phillip: What you've seen so far is not me... is definitely not me. I've still more to prove and show... which I haven't showed any... I haven't showed anything yet of what I can do.
Phillip sings...
Kate Thornton: Sharon! Your comments please?
Sharon Osbourne: Ahh... well, ehm... Phillip what a little sneaky boy you are. (Phillip laughs a little) You just jumped out of the closet. (Audience laugh)... No, no...
Simon Cowell: Careful!
Sharon Osbourne: ...Hold on. Because who would have thought that you were a right little rocker... (Phillip laughs) ...Hiding behind those... what is it? "The wind beneath me wings!" There you were, trying to be like a choirboy and you're a little rocker.
Phillip: Thank you Sharon.
Sharon Osbourne: Well done! ... (Emphatic) Yes! (Cheers)
Kate Thornton: Thank you Sharon. Simon!
Simon Cowell: (Struggles to get his words out)
Sharon Osbourne: (Laughs)
Simon Cowell: Not often I'm stuck for words! Y'know, I admire you Phillip for taking a risk. Okay, you know, that's the good news. I think if I'm being honest with you it was a bit like watching Shaking Stevens perform at some hideous wedding though. (Groans... becoming louder.) That's... that's what I'm worried about, but more interestingly we've got our... we've got our first X Factor mutiny on our hands here it sounds like. (Louis laughs) That you've now fallen out with Louis?
Louis Walsh: No we haven't fallen out at all!
Simon Cowell: But you didn't choose the song.
Phillip: Oh, no, no, no.
Louis Walsh: No, no, we haven't fallen out. He wanted to do the song... I admire him, he's got great courage.
Simon Cowell: Did he do the right thing?
Louis Walsh: Yeah, I think so yeah. Because he's happy with it... (Audience cheers drown out Louis) ... Absolutely. And Simon, you know, I work 'with' my acts, I don't try and tell them what to do. He... this is what he wants to be. He wants to be a young Shakin' Stevens. A young Cliff Richard. Shaky sold an awful lot of records Simon.
Simon Cowell: Do you want to be Shaking Stevens?
Phillip: I'd rather be the king! (Shakes his shoulders) I'd rather be able...(Grins) ...I admire Shakin' Stevens and...
Louis Walsh: Phillip, you know with respect...
Simon Cowell: No Phillip, you're not the king!
Louis Walsh: You're not going to be Elvis... but Cliff Richard, Shaky, they've done really, really well. I think you've done well tonight.
Phillip: Exactly.
Kate Thornton: All right. Thank you judges. Thank you very much. (Turns to Phillip) Phillip! A mixed bag of comments there. What would you like to say back to the judges?
Phillip: Ahh... I'll tell you someth... it's er, (Shrugs) ...a little better than (Laughs) the last 2 weeks, I must say. And, er, I've no problems being compared to Shakin' Stevens or the young Cliff Richard. If Cliff's out there and Shaky's out there, y'know (Phillip does a double thumbs-up) ... yous are... you're great.
Louis Walsh: (Shouts over) And the audience loved it. The audience absolutely loved it. (Big cheers from the audience drown out Phillip who's shouting out to them.)
Phillip: I had so much fun on this stage tonight. For the first time in this final I've really, really enjoyed myself and you know I hope I've entertained a few people out there too tonight.
Kate Thornton: Well I think you have. (Cheers) But let's see if the people at home are going to pick up the phone and vote for you Phillip. (Kate gives out the voting numbers etc) ...Woo, you've worked up a sweat! Let's hear it for him! (Cheers)
Phillip: Thank you! (Blows the audience a kiss)
Kate Thornton: And if you're watching in the Republic of Ireland, don't forget the numbers you'll need to vote for all of tonight's finalists will be coming up throughout the show. Ladies and gents, it's Phillip! (Phillip kisses Kate's cheek and exits)
