Journey South - X Factor Final 11 Show

Journey South
Song: Desperado  Check out 'Desperado' at Amazon.co.uk (The Eagles  Check out 'The Eagles' at Amazon.co.uk)

Journey South's Andy and Carl sing The Eagle's "Desperado" on The X Factor "Final 11" show.
Andy and Carl hope to fly high like The Eagles with tonight's number, the '70s classic "Desperado". Tonight Carl enhances the duo's authenticity by playing acoustic guitar on stage.
It's another passionate performance and their arrangement provides a pleasing mix of 2 very distinctive vocals.
The boys certainly don't lack the 'oomph' factor, but this time they sing a beautifully soft ending. Simon seems to love the brotherly bond between them, and once again it shines right through their performance.
They receive another positive set of comments from the panel...
  • Sharon describes them as the new Everly Brothers.
  • Louis thinks Carl and Andy are better than "Robson and Jerome", who of course are one of Simon's most successful acts. We presume he means this as a compliment!
  • Simon sums up the performance in one word "stunning".
Carl and Andy from Journey South are delighted with their comments tonight!

Actually the boys do seem a bit "stunned" when they speak to Kate Thornton. Although they are being interviewed about their performance they sound more like they are chatting to a friend at the bus stop!

They are obviously hoping that the next stop for them will be the Final 10 X Factor show!

Panel-Bites:

Simon Cowell:  (Introduction) I'm very, very happy to introduce 2 brothers, Andy and Carl. It's Journey South.

Into clip...

Carl:  Last week when we stepped out on stage I was just buzzing with the adrenalin.

Andy:  Every one that we love was sat there and we just couldn't wait to get out there. You know, I've given a lot up to be down here. I've got, you know, a 19-week-old baby. There's been some nights when I've gone to bed really upset, but I've got to keep telling myself why I am here. You know, I'm here because this is all that I want to do.

Simon Cowell:  There's something about the 2 of them when they perform which is special because they're so close and there's a bond. And you don't see that a lot today. I don't think we've seen anywhere near what they're capable of doing.

Andy:  This is what it's all about. This is possibly our last chance at the big time. We know this is now or never and we're gonna make sure it's now.

Journey South sing...

Kate Thornton:  Sharon? Your comments please?

Sharon Osbourne:  Ah, guys I tell you... you have such a natural way of performing. It's not forced it's... it's perfect. And do you know what? I think you're gonna be the English version of The Everly Brothers. (Cheers) Definitely. (Andy and Carl both seem to be straining to hear what Sharon says, due to the audience cheering) And it's... no matter what genre of music that you may like, you guys just appeal to everyone and I... you know me, I'm an old rocker, but I really love you guys.

Andy:  Thank you Sharon!

Carl:  (Gives the thumbs up) Thank you.

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Sharon, ahm, Louis?

Louis Walsh:  Guys, you're just naturals. It just proves that you've been working for like eleven years giggin' up and down the country. You really deserve your break now. I think there's a big gap in the market for an act like this. Simon did very well with Robson and Jerome, you're much, much better. (Cheers)

Andy:  Thank you. (Gives Louis the thumbs-up)

Carl:  Thank you Louis.

Simon Cowell:  I agree with Louis and Sharon. (Smiles) Ahm...

Sharon Osbourne:  Rest your case.

Simon Cowell:  You know guys what I like about you is that there's a sort of an honesty about you. You don't need any gimmicks, you just... I give you a good song, you perform it 110 per cent. As... as Sharon and Louis were saying, you've had 11 years experience, you came to this competition with no chips on your shoulders, simply "we think we've got a chance, we're talented, give us a break?" And I think the audience are going to give you a break, because that was stunning. (Cheers) Stunning.

Kate Thornton:  Thank you very much judges.(Turns to Andy and Carl) Wow! Admittedly he's your mentor, but still a 'stunning' from Simon Cowell!

Andy:  Yeah, it's brilliant. I can't believe it... 2 good weeks in a row.

Kate Thornton:  What would you like to say to the judges?

Carl:  I'd just like to say thanks for all your comments, you know... and ... for what... what can we ask... you couldn't ask for more, you know, couldn't ask for more.

Andy:  Two weeks in a row, good comments, is pretty... pretty amazing.

Carl:  Yeah.

Kate Thornton:  How do you feel about being the English Everly Brothers?

Andy:  The English Everly Brothers...

Carl:  Well the Everly Brothers...

Andy: ...were successful.

Carl:  Everly Brothers... Everly Brothers were brilliant at what they do, you know.

Andy:  Yeah, definitely.

Kate Thornton:  (Quietly) Mmm.

Andy:  Yeah. But we just... (Looks towards the judges) We just want to say thanks very much for the comments. You know, we're going to keep our feet on the ground. You know and not let it go to our heads and just (Andy bangs his fists together) give it 110 per cent every week.

Carl:  Defiinitely.

Andy:  We want to be here every week.

Kate Thornton:  So, are you going to get them back here next week? ...(Gives out phone numbers etc) ... Ladies and gentlemen, let's hear it for Journey South! (Journey South exit)
