Andy Abraham certainly isn't intimidated by Simon Cowell's negative comments!
Last week Andy made his mark on this contest singing George Benson's "Greatest Love Of All".
This week he sings well again, but the song choice lets him down a bit. "You To Me Are Everything" was a great hit for The Real Thing back in 1976, but somehow it sounds a bit dated now.
Andy gives it his best shot and afterwards proves he is well able to stand up to criticism from the judges! Simon calls it a "bit of a karaoke performance", Andy has enough self confidence to know that it definitely wasn't that.
He also seems to know that he didn't have the ideal song tonight, as he tells Kate "you do the best with what you've got"!

Panel-Bites:

Sharon Osbourne:  (Introduction) Well last week I realised where this man gets his soul and his passion from, and it's from his family. Please welcome Andy.

Intro clip...

Andy:  Last week I doubted whether, you know, I should have been in this competition, but after the comments of the judges it put all that to bed.

Sharon Osbourne:  Andy did great last week and I think all he actually wanted to do was to make his family proud of him.

Andy:  I'm really pleased that my kids and my wife came up to me and said... you know with tears in their eyes... they were so proud. That really cemented my belief that I was worth something.

Sharon Osbourne:  He's got his family behind him and his feet are firmly on the floor.

Andy:  I arrived overnight and I could just as quickly leave overnight, but I've had a taste of the high life and I really don't want it to end... but I'm going to work my hardest to make it happen.

Andy sings...

Kate Thornton:  ...Simon, your comments please?

Simon Cowell:  Er, Andy, you know I thought last week you did... I think you won the competition last week to be honest with you (Screams from the audience). Ahm, so therefore massive expectations upon you this week. Ehm, personally I hated the song...

Sharon Osbourne:  Uhh! Oh!

Simon Cowell:  (Boos from the audience) ...And I'll tell you why I hated the song... because I think you went in one week from somebody who I thought "fantastic, great British soul singer" to "a bit of a karaoke performance". (More boos)

Sharon Osbourne:  Oh no... (Sarcastic) that's great! Simon, you are out of order. So I...

Louis Walsh:  Sharon...

Sharon Osbourne:  ...I'm sorry you really pushing it!

Louis Walsh:  ...Sharon I have to say last week... Andy you've got an amazing voice. You've got a big rich, (Loud cheers) pleasant voice... yeah... I did... I much preferred your song last week. I think your voice is wasted on this song really...

Sharon Osbourne:  Ohh!

Simon Cowell:  I agree.

Louis Walsh:  ...but you are a star, you deserve to be here and I love your voice.

Simon Cowell:  With better songs. (Big cheer)

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Louis. Sharon!

Simon Cowell:  (To Louis) We're saying the same thing.

Kate Thornton:  Sharon you're mentoring Andy. You were a part of the decision with the song choice. What would you like to say?

Simon Cowell:  Big decision!

Sharon Osbourne:  (Pauses, then to Simon) Behave you. (To Andy) He's just trying to throw you off base.

Simon Cowell:  No I'm not.

Sharon Osbourne:  That's all he's trying to do.

Simon Cowell:  No I'm not Andy, 'cause I like you.

Sharon Osbourne:  He's trying to intimidate you.

Simon Cowell:  No I'm not.

Sharon Osbourne:  Do not take it.

Andy:  (Shaking his head) No, I know.

Simon Cowell:  No I'm not Andy...

Sharon Osbourne:  Don't take it Andy.

Simon Cowell:  ...No I'm not.

Andy:  I think... I think I'm around the same age as Simon... (Andy smiles, audience laugh) ...so you know the intimidation thing... (Sharon laughs) ...

Kate Thornton:  Actually Andy you're a little bit younger!

Andy:  ...It's not really gonna work Simon.

Simon Cowell:  (Waving the pen in his hand) Andy, Andy... It's not intimidation. It's actually good advice, which is...

Andy:  Yeah, I know.

Simon Cowell:  ...you have a good enough voice to find, hopefully, a great song to match your voice like last week. All I'm saying is I've seen dozens of performances like this before. You deserve better, that's all.

Sharon Osbourne:  And he's not karaoke... at all.

Louis Walsh:  No he's not karaoke...

Simon Cowell:  Definitely not.

Louis Walsh:  ...the song is karaoke, Sharon.

Simon Cowell:  The song's karaoke.

Louis Walsh:  It is!

Sharon Osbourne:  Oh behave the pair of you. Both out of order. Give it a break.

Louis Walsh:  We love Andy! Really.

Andy:  (Shouts over) Controversy already!

Kate Thornton:  Thank you judges... Let's hear back from Andy.

Sharon Osbourne:  You've got my heart...

Kate Thornton:  Andy?

Sharon Osbourne:  ...You're the best.

Andy:  Thank you Sharon. Thank you.!

Sharon Osbourne:  (Waving her arms) Pay no attention, they've got no idea.

Andy:  Thank you.

Kate Thornton:  Andy, you've heard what Louis and Simon have had to say, your chance to talk back now.

Andy:  Well I kind of think you know, you do the best with what you've got, and I feel that I've done tremendously well. (Cheers, Andy smiles) Ahm, it's ehm... with the time that we have... with the time that we've got, er, to work on things I... y'know it's, it's been great, so ehm, I dunno... 'onwards and upwards' as far as I'm concerned. (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Thank you Andy. So if you are going to allow Andy to go onwards and upwards you're going to have to vote for him... (gives out the numbers, Andy encourages the viewers to vote) ... Let's hear it for Andy!

Andy:  Thank you. (Waves and exits)
