Journey South, that's Andy and Carl Pemberton are hoping to convince the nation that they have The X Factor!
Andy and Carl have made a lot of journey's south recently. To Boot Camp and then on to Simon Cowell's luxury Spanish Villa. Tonight's is surely their most exciting as they are singing live not just to the Wembley studio audience, but to nearly 10 million viewers across Britain.
The boys hit centre stage looking a bit like 2 well groomed bikers in their leather jackets. They certainly rev things up with a passion as they sing Elton's number.
The boys stand centre stage astride their mikes, just a few yards apart.
Carl sings the opening bars solo, Andy soon joins in to crank up the vocal intensity.

It's a strong performance with oodles of oomph! The brothers power themselves towards the front of the stage and a nicely controlled finish.

Andy and Carl are smiling, so are the panel, who manage for the first time tonight to put aside their professional differences and agree on something... it looks like Journey South are headed in the right direction.

Journey South get a great reception from the panel after their first X Factor finals outing.

Panel-Bites:

Simon Cowell:  (Introduction) Well this is going to be a difficult one to follow isn't it. (He's referring to Chico - Audience laugh) Now I'm going to reintroduce the singers back into this competition. (Oooohs and a few boos from the audience) Very happy to introduce to you... Journey South. (Cheers)

Intro clip...

Andy:  (With Carl) Obviously we're brothers and ehm, we've been performing a long time together and we're best mates. It's everything to us... it's a release of energy... it's just a buzz, you know like getting on the stage I think you can see from our performances that, y'know it gets us right here.

Simon Cowell:  When I see them perform... you can see it in their eyes, this real hunger and this desire to do well. Your heart goes out them. I promise you this, two of the best singers I've ever met.

Andy:  We've wanted this, for 10 years we've been trying. It's just gonna be tense and, y'know, the pressure's on.

Journey South sing...

Kate Thornton:  Louis, your comments please?

Louis Walsh:  Carl and Andy you're absolutely great. That was a great performance. I've liked you from day one. You picked a great song, you've got a good image, you've got the whole package. I think you're going to go a long, long way. (Big cheers)

Andy:  Thank you very much.

Kate Thornton:  Thanks Louis. Sharon?

Sharon Osbourne:  Yeah, I... You're very genuine and I like that about you. You... you don't pretend to be anything you're not and you've got... you're vulnerable too. I really like you guys...

Carl:  Thank you very much.

Sharon Osbourne:  ...good luck in this contest. (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Thank you. Simon, you're mentoring Journey South, what did you think?

Simon Cowell:  I mean like Louis said, we liked these guys from day one. Ehm, what I love about Carl and Andy is... is... is that they have earnt the right to be here; they've been gigging up and down clubs for 10 years, they've come on this show without any chips on their shoulders, they love to entertain an audience, they have a great chemistry, they are fantastic singers! (Cheers) ... Ehm, it's what it's all about.

Kate Thornton:  And for once your colleagues aren't disagreeing Simon. Judges thank you very much.

Simon Cowell:  Thank you.

Kate Thornton:  (Joins Journey South centre stage) So... so boys (Grins) ... What do you say back to that?

Andy:  That was amazing. (Turns to the judges) Just, thank you very much for your comments...

Carl:  (Nods) Yeah.

Andy:  ...Just means the world to us you know.

Carl:  Couldn't have asked...

Andy:  Just wanna do this every week. Week in, week out. (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Because boys, as Simon said there, you boys have been schleppin' around for 10 years trying to make it. You lived in a caravan for how many years?

Andy:  We lived... well we lived in a caravan for 6 months... which was enough!

Kate Thornton:  6 months?

Andy:  That was enough.

Kate Thornton:  6 months is enough in a caravan! ...In an attempt to make it onto a stage like this and play to an audience like this. So how was that, after all these years?

Andy:  Just a dream. It's a dream come true. You know, this is just electric. It's brilliant.

Carl:  Amazing.

Andy:  Thank you everybody.

Carl:  Thank you.

Andy:  Thank you so much. (Cheers)

Kate Thornton:  Ladies and gentlemen, let's hear it for Journey South! (The boys leave) ... So happy they skipped off that stage there!
