Nicholas impresses The X Factor panel with both his voice and his look.

It's week 6 of the X Factor 2 and ITV1 has finally reached the end of the road as far as auditions are concerned. Nicholas Dorsett arrives just in the nick of time!

Before facing the judges he shows off his tattoo which winds around his right forearm and reads "All about the music". He has a simple explanation... "that's what I'm about".

He sets out to prove this is true by singing Boyz II Men's 1992 hit. His distinctive vocal has a nice soulful quality and he immediately grabs the judges' full attention.

Simon and Louis both think the voice needs work but agree that "you can hear enough good things in there".

Most importantly, Simon scores Nicholas high on his 'Likeability Factor'. It's not just the voice that is likeable, he's got a great image too. Sharon remarks that he's "not bad looking" but later upgrades this to "beautiful" and "gorgeous"!

Pleased as punch, the panel pack Nicholas off to Boot Camp with 3 very enthusiastic yeses.

Moments later, he catches up with his dad and supporters outside. They each give the panel a big thumbs-up and Nicholas celebrates in the approved X Factor style!

Nicholas, his dad and his supporters celebrate in true X Factor style.

Panel-Bites:

Nicholas:  (Pre-audition) I've been singing since I was a baby. Every day I'm bound to be singing somewhere. Trying to write my own songs like. I think even the tattoo proves that. It's got "All About The Music" going up my arm, 'cause that's what I'm about, all about the music.

Nicholas' enters the audition room. His family of supporters wait outside anticipating good things...

Dad: He's my son... so, very proud of him at the moment. Just wish him all the luck.

Supporter: He lives music, dreams it... Always singing to us, and he's definitely, definitely got The X Factor.

Nicholas' audition...

Simon Cowell:  Why did you enter this competition Nicholas?

Nicholas:  Ehm, 'cause you lot wanted The X Factor. (Sharon is amused).

Simon Cowell:  Yeah? And you've got it?

Nicholas:  Yeah, definitely.

Simon Cowell:  Okay...

Nicholas:  Okay.

Nicholas sings...

Simon Cowell:  (Interrupts) Okay, okay... That's a difficult song to sing.

Nicholas:  Mmm.

Simon Cowell:  You... you're still rough around the edges. You need a great vocal coach... But you have something I haven't seen today which is a totally raw talent.

Nicholas:  Thank you.

Sharon Osbourne:  (Laughing voice) His roughness is somewhat charming.

Simon Cowell:  Yeah. (Nods) Yeah.

Louis Walsh:  He needs a lot of work Simon.

Simon Cowell:  Yeah, yeah, but you know what you can hear enough good things in there...

Louis Walsh:  Yeah.

Simon Cowell:  And I sort of agree with what Sharon said as well....

Nicholas:  (Pulling at his locks) That's just nerves. When... when you put me in front of an audience then I...

Simon Cowell:  You know what but this always comes down to what I call "The Likeability Factor"...

Louis Walsh:  Yeah.

Simon Cowell:  People will like you... Louis, yes or no?

Louis Walsh:  Yeah.

Simon Cowell:  Sharon?

Sharon Osbourne:  Yeah. Sweet thing.

Simon Cowell:  A hundred per cent Nicholas, you're through to the next round.

Nicholas:  Thank you.

Simon Cowell:  You are in a totally different league to every single person we've seen today.

Nicholas:  Thanks.

Simon Cowell:  Very commercial, very likeable, ahm...

Sharon Osbourne:  And not bad looking old bean, either.

Simon Cowell:  Absolutely. Well done.

Nicholas:  Thank you.

Simon Cowell:  You did good.

Louis Walsh:  But you've a lot of work to do.

Nicholas:  (Walking out) Okay, I'm prepared for it.

Louis Walsh:  Okay.

Simon Cowell:  You did good.

Nicholas:  See you later!

Sharon Osbourne:  See you later! (She laughs as Nicholas exits the room)

Simon Cowell:  Yeah, he's good.

Louis Walsh:  Yeah.

Simon Cowell:  And he's cool.

Sharon Osbourne:  He's very cool.

Simon Cowell:  Yeah.

Sharon Osbourne:  Very, very cool.

Simon Cowell:  He's good. He was good.

Outside Nicholas gets mobbed by his family support. He bigs up the panel...

Nicholas:  (Grinning) Simon... yeah, Simon is the man! (Gives a thumbs up for Simon) Simon is the man! Sharon, yeah! She's boom (heartbeat) and Louis is safe too!

Later, in one of the production rooms the panel discuss Nicholas again...

Sharon Osbourne:  Beautiful! Gorgeous!

Simon Cowell:  Well I was excited to see somebody who was just head and shoulders abover the rest... that you thought "Yeah, you know, that's maybe a bit of a find".
