Chenai Zinyuku made it to Sharon's final 14 last year. She's hoping to go all the way this time around.
Pretty Chenai Zinyuku from Bradford returns again, after leaving the competition at Boot Camp stage last year.
This time around she's singing Rose Royce's "Wishing on a star" and delivers another fine audition, giving the song a bluesy interpretation and singing with soul.
Soulful she may be, but Chenai keeps the windows to her soul tightly shut during her audition. This seems to bother Louis, who advises that singing with eyes wide shut doesn't work on tv. The bubbly 19-year-old reminds him that "...it's a bit daunting!" as she falls about laughing.
Chenai is definitely wide-eyed when all the panel agree that she's improved vastly since last year. She sails through to the next round still wishing on that star!
It's second time around for Chenai and she gets another great reaction from the judges.

Panel-Bites:

Chenai:  (Pre-audition) I think because of the experience last year I want it more, because I sort of think "well, no, last 14 in Sharon's groups is not good enough".

Kate Thornton:  Good luck my love.

Chenai:  Thank you.

Kate Thornton:  Sock it to them! (Chenai laughs and enters the audition room.)

Sharon Osbourne:  (Smiling) Hi, how are you?

Chenai:  All right. I'm all right.

Simon Cowell:  Hello Chenai.

Chenai:  Hello Simon. (Laughs)

Sharon Osbourne:  You look really well, how have you been?

Chenai:  All right, yeah, yeah.

Sharon Osbourne:  Good.

Louis Walsh:  Why have you come back again?

Chenai:  I watched the live shows last year and I just wanted to be there. I thought "I'd love to sing live every week."

Louis Walsh:  (Beckons Chenai to sing) Okay!

Chenai sings...

Louis Walsh:  Chenai, I'm going to stop yer. Erm, why are you singing with your eyes closed?

Chenai:  'Cause it's a bit daunting! (Laughs)

Sharon Osbourne:  (Joking) You should be used to it by now!

Louis Walsh:  That doesn't work on tv.

Chenai:  I thought like... I thought like... ehm...

Simon Cowell:  (Looking directly at Louis) Doesn't matter!

Louis Walsh:  You don't think so? It doesn't work on tv.

Simon Cowell:  ...Doesn't matter!

Louis Walsh:  Simon?

Simon Cowell:  It is so rare to hear someone your age with your talent in this country. (Chenai smiles) I think if anything you've got better in the year since we've saw you.

Chenai:  (Smiling) Yeah.

Sharon Osbourne:  She has... You've come a long way.

Chenai:  (Joking) I just sing with my eyes closed now instead of them open, so...

Sharon Osbourne:  (Laughs out loud)

Simon Cowell:  You can stand on your head for all I care Chenai! (Chenai laughs)

Louis Walsh:  I think you're a great singer.

Chenai:  Thank you.

Louis Walsh:  I don't know if you have The X Factor (He glances at Simon) but I think you're a great, great singer. It's a rough diamond Simon I think.

Simon Cowell:  Yeah. Which is great! Okay, Sharon 'Yes' or 'No'.

Sharon Osbourne:  (Smiling) Yes!

Chenai:  Thank you.

Simon Cowell:  Louis?

Louis Walsh:  Yes!

Chenai:  Thank you.

Simon Cowell:  You are sailing through to the next round. Well done.

Chenai:  (Claps) Thank you, thank you.

Chenai is greeted by Kate as she exits the audition room...

Chenai:  Yes!

Kate Thornton:  (Arms aloft) Yessssss! (She gives Chenai a big hug.)

In the pod...

Chenai:  When I go to Boot Camp I'm going to give it a hundred and fifty per cent. I am going to really, really...oh, I am gonna work so hard and just prove to 'em that I can do it and I am better than I was last year.

Sharon discuss Chenai in the hospitality room whilst waiting for lunch whilst an impassive looking Louis sits in between them...

Simon Cowell:  I admire anybody who gets as close as she did...

Sharon Osbourne:  And comes back!

Simon Cowell:  And comes back! Yea good luck to them!

Sharon Osbourne:  Exactly!

Simon Cowell:  You know, it shows that they've got what you're looking for...

Sharon Osbourne:  Yeah.

Simon Cowell:  ...which is a hunger!
