| The G4 guys chat with Kate Thornton after singing 'Nessun Dorma' (Turandot - Giacomo Puccini) |
Kate: Now Boys... (acknowledges cheers) They're nuts! Great crowd tonight don't you think? Now that was another brave song choice for you from you. Now why on tonight of all nights was it important for you to go back to your classical roots. Jonathan: It's not just our classical roots, it's our roots from a group (sic) I mean we performed this as one of our set in the busking... and erm, people loved it then and the response then was just incredible, so thank you all for that. (cheers) And.. (more cheers) it kind of feels a bit like we've come this far but we've kind of gone back as well 'cos tonight we get to do Bohemian Rhapsody again, which was one of our strong songs then (whoos from the crowd) ...and people loved that then, so it's kind of we've gone back and forward at the same time. It's just tremendous, I hope people enjoyed it as much as people did in the studio. It was really fun. (applause) Kate: Now you all look quite emotional. Ben are you surprised by how emotional you all are tonight|? Ben: Not really, because at the end of the day it's a song that means a lot to us. As Jon said, we started off busking in the January snow, wind and rain with this song (the other guys laugh, so does Kate)... and it means so much to us and to bring it here in front of millions of people... I mean, that's why we're emotional about it. It means so much to us. Kate: Well guys, you did very well. Let's hear it for G4 |
| G4 receive their first panel verdict of the night after singing 'Bohemian Rhapsody' (Queen). |
Kate: Well done guys. Okay, time for the judges verdict! Simon, they've given two performances. Your thoughts please? Simon: Okay. Jonathan... tonight I will give you a very clear opinion. Er, when I said last week I wasn't sure whether the public would like it or hate it, erm, I watched this performance back on TV. Which is the right way to watch it back, because it's difficult sometimes within this atmosphere to be accurate or coherent. And I have to say I thought that was fantastic. (Big cheers and big smiles from G4) Kate: Bohemian Rhapsody? Simon: Well, I think that, y'know... what erm, wha-what the boys have done tonight wa-...and, and y'know, credit to Louis is that he's... he's made them sound credible... Er, remembering the guys when they first came into the audition room, erm... and seeing them here tonight. Erm... when these shows do get a lot of criticism. I mean on both of their performances, both of Steve's performance... I mean, this is what a talent competition's all about! I mean... both songs, ten out of ten. (big cheers) Kate: Thank you very much. Sharon? Sharon: It just... I mean it just amazes me each week you take us to another musical theme. You've covered Pavarotti, Britney Spears and Queen in one contest. (the G4 boys laugh) And you are so diverse. I mean and we all know it's on film, when you came in all three of us said... collectively as judges, that you were phenomenal. And Jonathan, all three of us said that you were a superstar... and you are. (cheers) Kate: Thank you very much! Guys, this is normally where you have to have a go back, but fanstastic comments tonight. Are you happy? Jonathan: I'm very, very happy. I'd just like to add to Sharon's comment that I think we've all grown into superstars as a group. And I think we're really, really (muffled by loud applause) Kate: Okay, well guys, that was your second bid to win the competition, you have one left. I'm going to ask you to go and get yourselves ready. Louis, you must be very proud. Louis: I'm very proud. Kate: Let's hear it for Louis and G4! |
| After singing 'Creep' (Radiohead) the G4 fellas face The X Factor panel for his very last time... |
Kate: Okay, G4. This is it, the last time you'll ever have to do it. It's your final judges verdict. Simon? Simon: You have no idea how much I wanted to hate that! (laughter and smiles all around) But I liked it! (cheers and whooos!) I mean, only Louis Walsh could choose a song with the end line "I don't deserve to be here".(laughs) Louis: Simon! We were donee (sic)...we were gonna dedicate it to you! (laughter) Because we think you're a creep! Simon: Well I was going to say I think it's charming that you devoted a song to your manager. So thank you for that. Louis: (shaking his head) No they didn't, they didn't. Kate: It was another brave choice from the boys, something they've become known for throughout the competition. Has it worked again? Simon: Yeah, erm, ...I...I...I think that it... it combined well with the classical songs. Erm, I don't think I would have ended on that song. Kate: Okay. Simon: I think I would have ended on the first song. Kate: Okay, thanks Simon... Simon: But erm... good! Kate: Thank you. Sharon! Sharon: Yeah, they've completed their musical journey. I mean they've... they just take us from musical genre to genre, and they... they're endless with what they can do. Well done! Kate: So boys? Jonathan? That's it...that's your last song. Have you done enough to become the winners of The X Factor? Jonathan: We've done as much as we possibly could ever have dreamt of plus like a million more things. And, I mean... we just never, ever thought we'd be here. (laughs) We actually turned up on the first audition in front of Simon and the other panel, and, we just walked in and all went tingly, like 'what are we doing here?' Then suddenly, we performed and they loved it. We, we never thought we'd come to this. We thought... Kate: Well you're... now you're in the final boys. Well done! Let's hear it for Louis and G4! (to G4) You've done great, thank you very much. |
