Tabby misses out on the final!
At the top of tonight's results show Kate Thornton reveals that nearly 3 million votes have been cast so far and it's too close to call!
We get a glimpse of the final 3 acts back stage and there are tense furrowed brows all around.
They have one last chance to win over any floating voters as they each choose one of tonight's songs for a reprise performance.
Click on the contestant links below to find out how they got on...
As the lines close the total votes cast tops 4 million. The mentors and their protégés take position on stage to hear their fate.
In 'no particular order' Kate announces G4 as the first act to go through and Louis' boys do their now familiar victory dance! Tabby and Steve must be feeling fearful, but still they applaud the vocal group for making it.
Kate demands 'silence' and after a long wait crooner Steve Brookstein is declared the second finalist. An overjoyed Simon gives Steve a huge hug and a thumper of a slap on the back!
This means that sadly Tabby Callaghan must leave The X Factor tonight.
The X Factor's top rocker accepts the result calmly. "...I've managed to come down now to the last three, doing what I do, playing my guitar, sticking to what I believe in... I'm just delighted I came this far. You know, to be honest I got what I came for and that's the exposure."
Hopefully Tabby will use that exposure as a springboard to greater success.
Next week's final will be an interesting battle between classical popsters G4 and soulful crooner Steve Brookstein, and all the indications are that it's going to be close!
Which of them will get that million pound recording contract? As Kate would say 'it's too close to call'. We'll just have to tune in on Saturday to find out!
