G4 - The X Factor (Final 4 Show)

G4 are the second act up to sing tonight. Their chosen songs are...

1.

You'll Never Walk Alone

[From Carousel]

2.

Somebody To Love

[Queen]

The G4 guys pay a visit to DJ Margherita Taylor at London's Capital FM. Jonathan is unusually quiet and it turns out that this is because he strained a vocal chord by shouting too much when the band heard they got through last week!

If it isn't sorted for tonight's performance then it could spell disaster for the group. The boys are worried and so is Louis "...he is our main man and if he's not one hundred per cent for Saturday we may have to pull out of the competition."

It looks as though resting the voice has worked for Jon, because he turns up on stage with fellow crooners Ben, Matt and Mike. Their first number is "You'll Never Walk Alone" from the musical Carousel, although it's better known as an anthem for Liverpool FC supporters.

Before they begin Ben gives Jonathan's shoulder a friendly squeeze, but any doubts over Jon's voice holding out are dispelled when he opens with the first bar. It's as pure and crisp as ever.

Ben's voice cuts in to accompany Jon's. Matt and Mike then take their turn to hop into a clever and layered arrangement. It works a lot better than the one they did last week for 'My Way'. The audience love it, and it should be a hit with the viewers, especially the liverpudlian ones!

G4 give to fine performances during The X Factor - Final 4 show.

G4's second song is an all time Queen favourite, 'Somebody To Love'. It's another winning arrangement, bouncy, uptempo and dramatic. Jonathan is superb on lead vocals again. He is so much the focus of this quartet that one wonders what how they could have survived without him.

The audience are going wild, but will panelists Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne match their enthusiasm?

Kate: Okay guys, it's time for the judges verdict. Simon!

Simon: Oh don't start with me!

Kate: Why?

Simon: Because I don't know what to say!

Kate: Well, think fast!

Simon: Okay! I liked it, I hated it. Erm, it was... y'know this really confuses me guys, you know! Because I thought the choreography was apalling! (boos) Erm...

Sharon: Excuse me. That was so fantastic when you... I loved it! (cheers)

Simon: Sharon...Sharon...Sharon...

Kate: Simon... Simon!

Simon: All I can say is, is that I think you have a split vote. I think some people will 'love' that! (cheers) Other people...other people will sit at home... and going (sic) what the hell is going on on The X Factor. (boos) They will, they will! (turns to the audience) They will!

Jonathan: (raises his hand) Can I just say!... Can I just say.

Kate: Simon,  thank you. Let's hear from Jonathan!

Jonathan: Can I just say that erm, you've become very successful doing that. Lots of people love you and lots of people hate you. But you've been amazingly successful. (Simon creases up laughing! Faye Sawyer does a little dance!) Let's hope that we can do that too!

Kate: Thank you Simon, and let's just clear up that you can't decide yourself whether you love it or hate it so you're in neither camp right now. Thank you. Err, Sharon!

Sharon: (Gives Simon a self-satisfied look!) Well, you know what I think. You're just amazing...da...ah...(puts her hands in the air trying to grab some words)... First song 'great'! Second song sensational. Just amazing... I loved, loved the choreography. I loved it. It's just so kitsch and camp and I just loved it! And the voices that... unbelievable, it makes you smile. (Simon is turned towards Sharon and staring at her.) Stop looking at me like that Simon!

Kate: Thank you Guys! Can I pick up with you Jonathan, because this week you did lose your voice. You lost it because you screamed so loudly last week when you got put through, you 'stressed a nerve'. Is that right?

Jonathan: I actually strained my vocal chords

Kate: Yea?

Jonathan: And erm was not speaking for three days. (sympathetic groans from the audience)

Kate: Which is why you were a little bit tearful tonight when you managed to hit all those notes, right?

Jonathan: It's tearful to be able to hit the notes along with my mates, but I'm actually stood here...erm... (Jonathan begins to cry) ...I've got my family but my mum's at home and she's too ill to come. So, I'm singing it for her! (cheers, Ben squeezes his shoulder)

Kate: Well we wish...

Jonathan: It means so much to all of us...(muffled)

Kate: Everybody here wishes everybody at home, especially your mum, a speedy recovery!

Mike: Can I just say... there's been a lot of speculation about us getting record deals and stuff, and none of it's true...and we desperately want this. This is our dream.

Louis: We desperately need it. Kate?...

Ben: We need it as much as anybody else... and we need you to vote!

Louis: Thank you Jonathan Ross. Jonathan Ross said...said they were his favourite band.

(cheers, including Voices With Soul girls in the audience)

Kate: Ladies and Gentlemen let's hear it for Louis and G4! (cheers)
