Rowetta Satchell - The X Factor (Final 4 Show)

Rowetta is first up on stage tonight. Her songs are...

1.

River Deep Mountain High

[Ike and Tina Turner]

2.

When You Tell Me That You Love Me

[Diana Ross]

Before her first performance, we are shown a clip of Rowetta's preparations this week...

Rowetta Satchell is dressed in sixties style for her opening number 'River Deep Mountain High'.

Rowetta, Simon Cowell and his 'Angels' Sinitta and Annie Skates are seen taking a look back at her journey to The X Factor finals.

Simon thought she was unstable back at boot camp when she manically declared "I'm through aren't I?", but she won him over with her performance of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow'. The look of discovery is there in his eyes "I thought you were amazing!... that's when I thought actually you were a singer".

On the bootcamp recording Simon tells her she was 'fantastic' and it brings those now familiar tears to her eyes. After viewing it she tells her team "I wish I didn't cry so much, but I do just react to things. I really have a job looking at family in the audience... because I'm away from home, I'm really missing home."

For tonight's show Rowetta does have family in the audience. Her daughter who has been there every week, her mum Marcia and her grandma Mimi. She'll be hoping she holds it all together!

Her first song tonight is Tina Turner's 'River Deep Mountain High'. She is dressed in 60s Carnaby Street style; a smart and trendy trouser suit with a big fur collar topped by a big floppy hat. Singing powerfully yet effortlessly, Rowetta looks happy and very assured and even manages to fit in a little wave, presumably to her folks!

She seems pleased with how it went, because while Kate moves on to the link for the next act Rowetta can be heard in the background yelling to her family!

Rowetta is a little more sedately dressed for her second song. She's wearing a silken black top and a matching frilled black three-quarter length skirt and looks really classy.

The song is the Diana Ross hit 'When You Tell Me That You Love Me'. It's a thoughtful ballad and her version is a beautiful one, full of passion. She really lets go in the last verse, it's like she's pouring her heart out right there on stage.

Rowetta Satchell puts plenty of emotion into her rendition of Diana Ross' hit song 'When You Tell Me That You Love Me'.
Rowetta Satchell faces The X Factor panel after her second song tonight. She's still looking emotional as she heads over to meet up with Kate and mentor Simon to face Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne on the panel.

Kate: Okay Rowetta. It's time for the judges verdicts. Sharon!

Sharon: Great, just great! Loved, loved the choice of songs Rowetta... and you're very confident tonight. Just great performances and might I add you look fabulous this evening. (cheers)

Rowetta : Thank you. I love you!

Sharon: I liked them. You really... tonight Rowetta you're shining!

Rowetta : So are you Sharon, so are you.

Sharon: You're fabulous... Thank You.

Kate: Thank you very much Sharon. Louis? Two songs, what did you think of 'em?

Louis: Two... two totally different performances y'know. I love River Deep Mountain High, you performed it so well.

Rowetta : Thank you.

Louis: Rowetta you deserve to be on that stage and I think you were absolutely amazing tonight. (cheers)

Rowetta : Thank you!

Kate: Simon?

Simon: Erm... honestly that was just so good. (to Rowetta) You know what, you are the heart and soul of this competition.

Rowetta: Oh thank you!

Simon: I can't imagine it without you. I really can't. (cheers drown out Simon momentarily) ...terrific.

Rowetta: Thank you!

Kate: Now Rowetta, Simon says you're the heart and soul of the competition. You are also the only woman left!

Rowetta: (claps with delight) Yes! Well done me! (she jumps up and laughs)

Kate: From fifty thousand applicants just one woman's left standing. And also I know tonight has special meaning for you because for the first time we've got your mum in the audience haven't....

Rowetta: Yes we have! (she waves to her mum) Marcia! And me grandma Mimi. I love you!... And Ted, Georgina, I love...I've got me... er 3 generations in the audience and I'm not going to cry. Because they're here. I've missed them, that's why I've been crying, I've missed my son...

Kate: Well we heard, we've heard you talk about your mum a lot and I know that her being here tonight means a lot. Can you, can you explain to people at home why?

Rowetta: Because she's sat through River Deep Mountain High at working men's clubs... talent competitions. She's just had this look in her eye going 'You should be on a proper stage, you should be on TV!' She's waited for this. And mum, you're here! Thank you for coming! Now you've had your holiday! (laughs and cheers) Grandma! Grandma, thank you! I sang your favourite song for you! Thank you grandma! I love you! Thank you!

Kate: And thank you to Simon and Rowetta!
