Tabby Callaghan - Don't Want To Miss A Thing (Aerosmith)

Tabby hasn't seen his little baby boy for five weeks. This week Sharon decides to give him a shot in the arm by arranging a surprise visit from the nipper. Six month old Illan is handed to a happy daddy who gives him a big hug and lots of kisses.

"You little brat! I missed yer!" says rocker Tabby as he rocks his babby.

As she introduces Tabby, Sharon promises we are "going to see a total other side" of him tonight.

Dressed again in 60s rock-fashion, wearing a loose tie over just his vest, Tabby begins the Aerosmith rock-ballad in hands-in-pocket moody mode. Like a true pro he ramps it up, gradually giving it more intensity as he begins moving around the stage.

Tabby Callaghan begins his rendition of Aerosmith's 'I Don't Want To Miss A Think' in moody rocker mode.

Vocally it's definitely a competent performance; but with Tabby the performance definitely isn't all about the vocals! During the crescendo he yells "Yea! yea! yea" and casually floors the mike stand, it's a neat piece of rock choreography.

By the end of his number Tabby's got them dancing in the aisles...but does he have a panel full of smiles?

Tabby is very happy with the comments he got for his performance tonight.

Kate: Tabby, it's time for the judges verdict. Okay...(a girl in the audience shouts out )...thank you ladies... Louis?

Louis: Well Kate y'know Tabby's just a born entertainer. He was born to do it. He doesn't just sing songs, he performs, he owns the stage. (cheers) And y'know Tabby... y'know you're not the best singer in the world but it doesn't matter you're a born entertainer and you can really, really sell it. And you have got the sex factor. (cheers)

Tabby: (laughs)

Kate: I say! ... But does Simon Cowell agree?

Simon: Erm... you know it's interesting Kate that these shows come in for a lot of criticism... normally by smug artists who've got million pound recording contracts, who say these shows don't have any merit... And watching Tabby tonight, knowing where he started from, where, y'know he'll be the first to admit he was almost penniless on the road. Took a risk entering a competition like this, left his band behind... and turns in a performance like that... you see the growth. It makes all of this worthwhile. That was superb. (big cheers)

Tabby: Oh thank you so much. (Sharon hugs Tabby who looks overwhelmed!)

Kate: Wow... Sharon? Sharon, anything you'd like to say?

Sharon: (shaking her head and smiling) I'm not putting my foot in my mouth. I'm saying nothing.

Kate: Now listen Tabby. Amazing comments from both Simon and Louis. We've seen tonight the sacrifices you're making. Five weeks away from a new born son. Is this made it all worthwhile?

Tabby: D'you know what, sometimes it's hard like. Y'know at night and stuff I'll be thinking about him a lot. But to be able to be up on stage like this and get the exposure I'm gettin' in front... to be able to play in front of an audience like this is just... it makes everything worthwhile. It's fantastic... I'm so happy to be here. (shakes his head) You've no idea! (big cheers)

Kate: So you're not ready to go home yet?

Tabby: Kate, let me just tell yer... I absolutely love Ireland and I love the green fields but I do want to stay here for another while yet.

Kate: Yer?

Tabby: I don't want to go anywhere yet? (laughs)

Kate: Okay well let's see if the audience keep you in tonight. For now ladies and gentlemen, Sharon and Tabby!
