Cassie Compton - I Say A Little Prayer (Aretha Franklin)

Sharon Osbourne introduces the second of her young protégés "I've got something for all young girls at home. Somebody that they can all relate to."

"Me?" suggests Simon Cowell!

Sharon is quick with her reply  "No... young!"

She continues "...And that would be my little Cassie!"

First we are treated to the videoclip of Cassie's week preparing for the show...

Sharon wants to see a 'Sassy' Cassie perform tonight, and suggests a bit of dancing. Sharon enlists a choreographer to work with Cassie and vocal coach Mark Hudson on tonight's arrangement.

At the beginning of the week Cassie seems a bit apprehensive about it all, "I've only got 4 days to learn all the moves and its trying to cram some really impressive dance moves into one minute and fifty seconds, and its really not going very well at the moment.

Cassie Compton

So as Cassie takes to the stage to sing Aretha's classic, the whole nation sits on the edge of their seats in anticipation of those nifty dance moves!

As always Cassie moves around the stage with grace and commands it with presence. However there isn't anything that you could really label a dance move! It looks as though Sharon & Co didn't have time to change Cassie's videoclip!

The vocal aspect of Cassie's performance is good, but marred slightly by a few pitch problems. Overall though it is a stylish and very entertaining effort.

Last week she received plaudits aplenty from the panel. Will it be more of the same this week for sassy-Cassie?

Kate: Cassie, it's time for the judges' verdict! Simon?

Simon: Erm, you know Cassie, I think the nerves have got to you. (Cassie nods) I do a bit. You were off a bit tonight, erm, and I will put it down to nerves! I...I do like you as an artist, a lot, and I actually like you as a person. Erm, but it wasn't your best performance this week and I will put it down to nerves. (Cassie continues to nod)

Louis: I thought she was good Simon!...

Simon: Yes, I'm not saying that...

Louis: I really did! I mean Simon...

Simon: ...I'm not saying that! I'm just comparing her to last week.

Louis: She's a seventeen year old girl singing...

Simon: That's what I've just said!

Louis: an Aretha Franklin song.

Simon: That's what I've just said, she's seventeen!

Louis: I think she did a very good job and I love the styling and I love the backing girls. I think you did a really good job. (Cassie smiles, cheers from the audience)

Kate: Sharon!

Sharon: No, I mean everone's entitled to their own opinion. We don't all agree! But everyone's entitled to their opinion and I'm sure Cassie will take it in! (Cassie nods in agreement)

Kate: Yea, were you nervous tonight Cassie?

Cassie: Yes.

Kate: More than usual?

Cassie: Erm, I felt I had a lot more to sort of take in and concentrate on, and perform. So yea that's the kind.... a little bit more than usual yeah.

Kate: So do you think that's fair comment? (Kate motions towards the panel)

Cassie: Yea, I do.

Kate: Yeah?

Cassie: Yeah. (nods again - the audience cheers her)

Kate: That's very big of you. And I don't think people can appreciate how nervewracking it is when you know that there are millions watching at home. So, fair enough that nerves come into it. Why should people though forgive you for that tonight Cassie, and pick up the phones for you?

Cassie: You know what? This doesn't get any easier, it gets harder and everyone's great, but it's up to the people at home! I just pray (looks up to the heavens) that they vote for me! Please!

Kate: Say a little prayer... you did great! For now everybody let's say thanks for Sharon and Cassie!
