2 To Go - Gone!

Louis Walsh's run of luck had to end and it has tonight. Both of the acts in the bottom two are Louis'.

The order in which Kate Thornton reveals the acts that make it through is G4, Rowetta, Tabby, Steve and...after the agonising ad-break Cassie! So it is 2 To Go and Voices With Soul who must sing again to stay in the competition.

Louis watches on, wondering which act to choose if he is forced to vote one of them off....

Of the two performances Voices With Soul's Bridge Over Troubled Water is the more rousing and receives the biggest reaction from the audience.

The first judge that Kate turns to for a verdict is Sharon, who pauses slightly before naming 2 To Go as the act that she is sending home.

Louis must be hoping that Simon is next on Kate's list, but instead it is him. It's not an easy choice for him, he tells Kate "I don't want to send any of these acts home, I'm very close to the two of them. I don't know how I'm gonna make this decision."

It's so tough for him, Louis can't bring himself to say the name of the act. Kate has to prompt him 3 times to name names. He's in real agony, but after what seem like eternity he finally brings himself to say "The act I think I have to send home tonight is 2 To Go".

Peter Jones and Emma Paine of 2 To Go bravely face Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne after the 'Final 8' show performance.

Peter looks crestfallen. The dreams of the pair are placed on hold. When asked to say a few words by Kate Thornton, Peter first thanks all those who have voted for them. Then, heartwarmingly he shows he has retained his sense of humour and sings "We're going home, we're going home!" to the tune of 'Football's coming home'.

It was a nice way for 2 To Go to go, they have had a great run in the competition and hopefully it won't be the last we see of them.

What is interesting is that if Kate had asked Simon before Louis, there was a chance that Simon would have named 2 To Go and saved Louis from his impossible predicament... but that wouldn't have made quite such gripping T.V. now would it?

So it's 2 To Go no more, now it's 6 to go!
