G4 - Don't Look Back In Anger (Oasis)

It’s easy to see the enthusiasm that Louis and his team have for this very different pop-cum-classical quartet.

Vocal coach Dave Laudat revealed on last night's The Xtra Factor: Xcess All Areas that he has probably learnt as much from the boys as he has taught them. G4's Michael even demonstrated his curious vocal warm up… which is basically an imitation of a cow's ‘mooooooooo!’, only deeper probably!

Jonathan the G4 tenor with the boy band looks.

The G4 guys received all round plaudits from the panel last week, but Louis and Dave are still searching for areas of improvement. Earlier this week Louis told the boys he felt they were "a little bit over the top with the facial expressions". Dave also wants to see the boys connect more with the lyrics of a song.

Their song today is a veritable Oasis anthem, and Faye Sawyer has done such a great styling job on the group that they could probably mingle inconspicuously at a Gallagher family bash!

Well almost! You see, whilst the G4 fellas certainly give us another good vocal performance tonight, there’s something that just doesn’t look quite right. Perhaps it’s the bit where they do the synchronised walk to the front of the stage? Their actions just don’t seem to fit the song somehow.

The boys seem happy enough with it, and the audience applause is loud, so it will be interesting to hear what Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne have to say about Louis’ act.

Kate: Okay Simon?

Simon: Er, as you know Kate, last week I thought the boys did brilliantly...however...(a few groans) ... this was the most ridiculous song Louis, you could ever have chosen for this group. Completely and utterly inappropriate! You’ve got to be...

Louis: Absolutely wrong!

Simon: ...now let me finish...

Louis: Absolutely wrong!

Simon: ...let me finish...

Louis: ...as usual Simon...

Simon: Louis...you’ve got to be angry to sing this song...

Louis: No you don’t!

Simon: ...they’re not angry! Okay...

Louis: ...you know what..Simon...

Simon: ...an...and I also have to say...let me finish

Sharon: (to Simon) They will be (angry) in a minute after you’ve finished with them, let me tell you! (big cheer from the audience)

Simon: ...let me finish...

Sharon: Jesus!

Simon: ...the styling was all over the place. Everything this week was wrong. (G4's Ben gives Simon a confused look) Apart from the singing. The singing was good but everything else...

Louis: They were fantastic...Simon this is raw talent. Something you know nothing about.

Simon: Yes I do Louis!

Louis: This is real talent. Simon this is original. They did all the vocal arrangements themselves. This is...

Simon: (sarcastically) Yes it was original.

Louis: It’s original and its different and...

Simon: It was different, I’ll give you that! (Laughter)

Louis: ...and the public are going to love it! (shaking his head) The public are going to prove you wrong...Again!

Kate: Okay, I know you want to speak back.

Michael: If you want us to do angry we can do angry. (cheers) But... but we don’t want to frighten anyone on the show because that’s your job. (Kate laughs)

Simon: I beg your pardon?

Louis: You know what Simon, I think these boys...

Kate: He says he doesn’t want to frighten anyone on the show, that’s your job. ...Sharon!

Sharon: Well I thought the choice of song was just fabulous! I love your arrangement. And you know this is really hard for me because usually I like dirty a bit rougher boys, but for some reason I like you! So you’re just fine by me. (applause)

G4: Thank you.

Louis: Kate, do you know what? Simon is feeling very threathened by these boys.

Simon: I’m not feeling threathened.

Louis: This is not a manufactured act,

Simon: I’m not feeling threathened Louis.

Louis: ...these boys got together themselves. I think Liam and Noel Gallagher would love this song tonight.

Simon: I don’t.

Sharon: I think so too. You’re right Louis!

Jonathan: I think if you’re not threathened ... it’s a shame that the choirs joining the other contestants...that are oohing and aaaahing in the same way as we accompany ourselves as an act... and I feel that is maybe some kind of representation of us, and you’re trying to recreate in solo artists...And I think we bring that naturally to ourselves and that’s what we offer to the public. (Cheers.)

Louis: Well said!

Kate: I think very well said! Ladies and gentlemen, a very articulate G4 and Louis Walsh! Well done boys. (cheers)

Kate: (to camera) Oooph! That told them!
