| X Factor 4 - The Results! - Dark Horse Leon Gallops Home! |
15 Dec 2007:
On tonight's main show 3 very different acts battled out for the best christmas present ever, that 1 million pound record contract. After partnering Leon in the main show Kylie Minogue opens tonight's results show, then Same Difference gracefully bow out of the contest in 3rd place. Leon and Rhydian both sing the winner's single, Whitney and Mariah's When You Believe ... (Click on the icons to download from iTunes or preorder at Amazon) ...before Dermot reveals the surprising final result, that Leon Jackson is the Winner of The X Factor Season 4. Surprising only because Rhydian has been the front runner all through this season. However young Leon has progressed both in performance and confidence more than any other act since the finals began. Earlier in the show Dermot announced that just 1% separated the top 2 acts. Clearly X Factor's dark horse has pipped the front runner right at the post.
In an emotional end to a fabulous X Factor night a joyfully tearful Leon described what winning this contest means to him, "It just means the world. I set out to persue it because I love singing and as I went along I knew that I could potentially change my mum's life and I've just done it." Aww!
So it's commiserations to runners up Rhydian and Same Difference but many congratulations to Britain's answer to Michael Bublé - Leon Jackson! | |
Here's a reminder of what the 3 final acts sang on tonight's main show...
Same Difference Xmas song: All I Want For Christmas Is You (Mariah Carey) Duet: Any Dream Will Do with Jason Donovan Favourite song: Breaking Free (High School Musical)
Leon Jackson Xmas song: White Christmas (Bing Crosby) Duet: Better The Devil You Know with Kylie Minogue Favourite song: You Don't Know Me (Ray Charles)
Rhydian Roberts Xmas song: O Holy Night (Christmas carol) Duet: You Raise Me Up with Katherine Jenkins Favourite song: Somewhere (Barbra Streisand)

| Hope is gone! |
01 Dec 2007:
Girl band Hope leave the X Factor on Best Of British night. It's the first night this season where the judges had no deciding vote. From here on only the public vote determines who progresses in the contest. First to be declared safe was Niki, followed by Leon then Rhydian. This meant that Same Difference joined Hope in the 'bottom two', although Dermot re-iterated that the results were 'in no particular order' so we can't be sure if Same Difference were actually placed 4th tonight. | | Hope sang out with 'We Will Rock You', their second number of the night, which in our view was one of their best performances of the contest. After 3 bottom placings they half expected to leave, but Raquelle assured us that the girls intend to keep performing together. She isn't fibbing either, because they'll be performing on the X Factor Live tour early in 2008! Guest Brits 'Duran Duran' performed on the results show, and the legendary Simon Le Bon gave Hope and Niki Evans a great confiidence booster by selecting them as the most impressive acts of the night. Niki is a great fan of Simon's, as Xtra Factor viewers will know, having witnessed her very funny "Oh my God!" reaction when she met him earlier this season.
Here's a reminder of what the final 5 sang tonight... |
| Rhydian Roberts | Somebody To Love, World In Union | | Hope | 2 Become 1, We Will Rock You | | Niki Evans | Total Eclipse of The Heart, Fields of Gold | | Leon Jackson | Crazy Little Thing Called Love, The Long and Winding Road | | Same Difference | Any Dream Will Do, Wake Me up Before You Go Go |

| X Factor 4 - Final 6 - Classic Love Songs |
24 Nov 2007:
A late change of plan means the theme for the Final 6 show is 'Classic Love Songs', not the previously mooted 'Motown'. Simon Cowell said he was disappoionted with the Disco week performances, but tonight, thanks to some great song choices, he's a happy man again. With less dancing and not a gimmick in sight, tonight is all about the singing. In fact some people say that X Factor is actually a singing contest... Well did you ever? What a swell programme this is! | | For a refresher on how the finalists performed and what the 4 judges had to say, check out the links below... |

| X Factor - 'Without Beverley'! |
24 Nov 2007:
 | The Final 6 result is an X factor shocker. Beverley Trotman leaves tonight. She and girl band Hope found themselves in the bottom 2. Louis and Simon saved their own acts, Dannii then opted to send Hope home. Before casting her potentially decisive vote Sharon Osbourne cryptically stated that her choice was "...for a reason and you'll realise the reason when I say it." Her choice was to send Beverley home. This meant that the act leaving is the one that received the fewest public votes and Dermot revealed that this was Beverley. | We're a bit shocked to see Beverley go, she delivered another great performance on the show tonight and has been really consistent throughout the whole season. She responded to her X Factor ousting with humility and dignity, "It was such a fantastic show, everybody raised their game this evening." She's right, tonight's 'Classic Love Songs' theme was a great success. Even Simon Cowell thought all the acts performed well! Here's a reminder of what they sang... |
| Beverley Trotman | Without You (Harry Nilsson) | | Same Difference | Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now (Starship) | | Niki Evans | The Power Of Love (Jennifer Rush) | | Rhydian Roberts | Somewhere (Barbra Streisand, West Side Story) | | Hope | Hurt (Christina Aguilera) | |
| Leon Jackson | You Don't Know Me (Ray Charles) |

| Alisha's Young Heart Runs Free from The X Factor |
17 Nov 2007:
Alisha Bennett dances out of the X Factor on Disco night, after singing Candi Staton's Young Hearts Run Free. However, her bottom 2 placing must surely be due to the ridiculous roller skating choreography which trivialised her main show performance.
Alisha faced off against girl band Hope who sang Abba's 'Gimme, Gimme, Gimme'. It was Alisha's third time in the bottom 2 and Hope's second. Hope's mentor Simon Cowell was the first judge to vote, he stressed that he really likes Alisha, but naturally voted for her to leave. Dannii Minogue followed suit. Alisha's mentor, Sharon Osbourne, voted to save her, so this meant that Louis Walsh was left with another (apparently) agonising deciding vote. Somehow, after hearing Louis repeatedly say how he thinks Hope could be the next big girl band, we weren't shocked when he opted for Alisha to leave.
We feel that, minus the roller skaters, Alisha outperformed Hope in tonight's final showdown and we feel she was extremely unlucky to lose out on the judges' vote. This young lady has bags of potential and we're looking forward to seeing her on the X Factor Live tour. We also really 'Hope' we'll see plenty more of her after that!

| X Factor 4 - Final 7 - Disco Night |
17 Nov 2007:
 | It all 'flares' up on X Factor's Disco Night, especially between Simon and Sharon! They squabble over Alisha, who sings "Young Hearts, Run Free" or should that be "Young Hearts, Skate Wobbly... Never be hung out, hung out to dry like me"? Last week Rhydian was 'raised up' to the number one spot, but tonight his gimmicky "Go West" sends him sailoring south on our chart. Bouncing back, Beverley's Chaka chops can't take her anywhere else but to top of the disco pops.
| Yes, the disco theme definitely suits some acts more than others, but overall it's great entertainment. What a pity that one act has to go-go on tonight's results show! For a refresher on how the finalists performed and what the 4 mentors had to say, check out the links below... |

| Andy's Chasing Cars drive him out of the contest. |
10 Nov 2007:
 | Dannii Minogue experiences her first casualty of the contest tonight. Andy Williams crashes out of the X Factor singing Chasing Cars. Dannii's song choice failed to bring out the best in the Newport lad, who faced off against Beverley Trotman in tonight's final showdown. |
