New, improved and hopefully dazzling, X Factor slots back into our compulsive telly schedule tonight...
Aloud for a loud.
Mrs Ozzy takes a bow this year, having just completed her judging stint on Simon's US cash cow(ell) 'America's Got Talent'.
Snugly stepping into such a loud lady's shoes is a Girls Aloud lady, Cheryl Cole.
Glamorous Cheryl was catapulted into fame on 'Popstars: The Rivals' in 2002, so she knows a thing or two about this reality, musicality fame game. It seems like her catchphrase as a contestant (“It's an emotional rollercoaster!”) also aptly describes her judging role. Reports describe how she 'cried like a baby' during auditions. Ironically this was when auditioning her old friend Nikk Mager, a co-contestant on 'Popstars: The Rivals'. Nikk had chart success with Phixx, (the boyband formed from the runner-up Rivals), but his X Factor roller-coaster derailed to the sound of Cheryl choking back the tears.
Gone? Oh, but not Fearne Cotton!
Xtra Factor drops another anchor. Fearne Cotton has quit the show after a successful single season stint, passing the baton to her good pal Holly Willoughby. Fearne is now busy making a name for herself across the pond as a presenter on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”.
Is Leon a Lewis-er?
With Leona Lewis emerging as a staggering global success, X Factor’s credibility as a star-making show is on the rise. However, it’s been all quiet on the Jackson front since last season’s victor Leon had the obligatory number one with a cover of “When You Believe”. Fear not Leon fans, at this season’s press launch, show supremo Simon Cowell made it clear that he’s keeping the faith with the Scots crooner. Leon’s debut album is scheduled for release this October and Simon sounds excited, "This album is by any standards, be they Michael Bublé's or Robbie Williams', a fantastic record."
